- The Extensive Canon Philippines Digital Camera Line Up
Canon was found in 1993 by Takeshi Mitarai with three friends of his who were technicians. They actually started out the company as Precision Optical Instruments Laboratory. Then in 1994, they made Japan's first 35-mm camera called "Kwannon". From there, they incorporated the Precision Optical Instruments Laboratory into Optical Industry Company Ltd., which lead them to venture into machines made for business productivity such as an electronic calculator (1964) and the plain-paper copier (1968). Because of their products becoming more diverse as the years went by, they decided to go with a simpler name which would help them market the company easier - taking the name "Kwannon" from their 35-mm camera, they settled on calling the company Canon Inc.
Today, the name Canon is a household name when people talk about computer paper printers, laser printers, and fax machines - and of course not to forget, their digital cameras. The Canon Philippines that we all know is famous for their extensive line up of digital cameras.
