Design in Simplicity of the Acer Liquid Z220 is an entry-level smartphone, and it knows that. That is why the design of the Acer Z220 goes down the simple path. The rear of the smartphone comes covered in a soft-touch fabric-inspired textured material that is very comfortable to hold, and provides some grip. The Acer Z220 comes in both black and white colors, both equally as smart looking and provides a sense of luxury to the otherwise affordable smartphone.
On the rear of the Acer Liquid Z220 sits a 5 megapixel camera that is equipped with an 89-degree wide angle lens. This enables you to capture more scenery and people in the camera without having to stand further away. It also comes with an LED flash and exposure control for all of those tricky lighting environments. It is a decent little shooter for what it is. For the selfie lovers, the front of the smartphone has a 2-megapixel front-facing camera which can be used for your self-portraits or video calls.
Being a very affordable entry-level smartphone, the Acer Liquid Z220 only has a humble little 4-inch display sitting on the front. The display features 480 x 800 re solution, which equates to about 233 pixels per inch, which may not seem like much – but hardly an issue considering the low price of the smartphone. Compared to other HD displays, the Acer Z220 is not going to win, but it definitely gets the job done.
The Acer Z220 is powered by none other than Google's very own Android 5.0 Lollipop operating system. Android purists will be happy to know that the little Z220 runs on stock Android, with no custom user interface from manufacturers in sight. Instead of the typical custom user interface however, Acer has loaded the Z220 with its own applications such as some light games.
At the heart of the Z220 is a 1.2Ghz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 processor. It is not the most powerful of specifications around, but it definitely gets the job done when it comes to most daily tasks and social media browsing. For storage space, the Z220 comes with only 8GB of internal storage; thankfully for the media junkies however, the internal storage is expandable via a microSD card – so no worries
