Nokia D1C Philippines – Affordability at its best

The Nokia D1C was planned to be launched back in 2016 and was planned to be first released in China. Expected to be launched on the 30th January 2018, this Nokia smartphone will be a new addition to their midrange collection, perfect for first-time smartphone users or anyone else with a strict budget. The Nokia D1C will be one of the first HMD smartphones under the Nokia brand.

The specs

From leaked information to various sources, the Nokia D1C in the Philippines will be powered by a 1.4 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor, Adreno 505 graphics card, and will be compatible with a 4G SIM card and Wi-Fi. This Nokia smartphone also comes with a variety of sensors including accelerometer, ambient light sensor, gyro, and proximity sensor. The battery used for the Nokia D1C is a powerful 3000 mAh battery that can handle all your games, apps, and media. The battery can be charged in a flash through the Quick Charge 3.0 technology.

Two variants

This smartphone from Nokia Philippines will be available in 2 variations with different specifications and design. The two versions will have a 5 and 5.5-inch screen, both with 1080 resolution, 2 GB and 3 GB of RAM, 16 GB and 32 GB of memory, and rear cameras with 13 megapixels and 16 megapixels. However, both phones will feature an 8-megapixel front camera to deliver clear and vivid selfies.

The design

The Nokia D1C smartphone comes in a variety of color options like white, grey, pink, and gold. The bezels on the top and bottom are not as thin as the modern smartphones today but they are necessary to support the front camera and the home button. The back design is elegant, embellished with only the Nokia logo under the rear camera.

What it lacks

Since the Nokia D1C is a no-frills smartphone targeted for first-time users, this Nokia smartphone is as simple as it gets. There’s no fingerprint sensor anywhere that will allow you to unlock your phone. The Nokia D1C also does not allow expandable storage, letting you resort to a third party storage apps for all of your extra data.

There is no front flash on the selfie camera which requires you to scout a sufficiently-lit room to take all of your selfies. It is unclear if there will be any beautifying or editing features on the selfie camera but considering this phone is as straightforward as it gets, the features may not make an appearance on the Nokia D1C.

The phone does not support VoLTE so you can’t make phone calls over the 4G network despite being able to support 4G SIM cards. You can’t also connect your phone to a smart TV and lastly, the Nokia D1C does not have a built-in compass.
