Nokia Philippines introduces the first thing you’ll realise about the Nokia XL is the large screen and interface when handling it. As most Nokia smartphones feature large displays along with excel-type icons, the Nokia XL sports the same characteristics. Using Android’s open interface, the Nokia XL is a window to the world of Microsoft services. Unfortunately, you won’t get the convenience of Google’s apps all ready at hand thanks to Nokia’s apps. For example, instead of Google maps, you will get the Nokia maps which can be a tad bit annoying to use. Form meets function when it comes to design. The outer casing of the Nokia XL is coated in matte black plastic with power and volume control buttons on the right side of the device. Capacitive buttons are on the lower part of the screen while the device sports a 5 inch LCD screen that lacks HD capacity. Available in a variety of colours (bright green, orange, cyan, yellow, black, white), the Nokia XL is made more as an accessory rather than a device for everyday use.
Overall, the Nokia XL has quite a few downsides, but interestingly, it makes a handy device for those whose budget is lower. The Nokia XL’s camera features a rear 5MP camera at 480p that is basic enough for your everyday photo-taking. Nokia has gone out of its way to get the Android OS, v4.1.2 (Jelly Bean) and the Qualcomm MSM8225 Snapdragon S4 Play chipset to power up the Nokia XL. Although not extremely impressive, the Nokia XL does its functions as it is required. For storage, the Nokia XL features microSD capabilities with up to 32GB external storage, while the internal is up to 4GB. Some sensors of the Nokia XL include the accelerator and proximity sensors. Bluetooth, GPS, Wi-Fi and Email capabilities all come standard with the Nokia XL. Other features include MP3, loudspeaker, photo editor and voice memo add-ons. Overall the Nokia XL is one phone to be used for very minimalist functions in everyday usage. For what it’s worth, you might want to consider this smartphone as a secondary or back up smartphone.
