5 Things You Can Expect from OnePlus’ Next Mobile Phone
The OnePlus 6 may come sooner than we think. It will be announced on May 16, with events that will be held in London and other parts of the world. OnePlus has integrated a slew of nifty features into the 6. Here are the things you can expect from this upcoming device.
OnePlus 6 Release Date and Price
As mentioned, the OnePlus 6 will launch on May 16, but the on-sale dates are likely in a few weeks after the event, based on the schedules of its predecessors. There hasn’t been a confirmation yet about the One Plus 6’s pricing, but it could be priced a bit higher than last year’s 5T. Its projected entry-level price may start above $499 (about PHP 25,900).
OnePlus CEO Pete Lau said the OnePlus 6 will come with an all-glass design, ditching the aluminum chassis of its predecessors. While it’s made of glass, OnePlus ensures that the 6 is tough enough by applying 5 layers of Nanotech Coating. As for striking design changes, rumors suggest that the OnePlus 6 could sport a vertical camera like in the iPhone X with a fingerprint sensor below the flash.
The OnePlus 6 is said to come with a 6.28-inch display, larger than the one in the OnePlus 5T. Besides that, it will sport a 19:9 aspect ratio which offers slimmer bezels than today’s 18:9 phones. The OnePlus 6 will also hop on the notched display trend, which the iPhone X introduced.
OnePlus also divulged the specs of the 6, so there’s no need for us to guess what’s under its hood. The OnePlus 6 will run the Snapdragon 845, with RAM up to 8 GB and internal storage up to 256 GB. While the company hasn’t revealed the storage tiers for the 6, just like its previous iterations, it won’t offer expandable storage.
Dual Camera Setup
Lau shared sample images of the OnePlus 6 on Weibo, a Chinese photo-sharing site. The sample images showcase the One Plus 6’s performance in good lighting which turned out to be quite impressive. In term of hardware, the device will sport a dual camera array, similar to the 5T. There will be a 16 MP lens with a f/1.7 aperture and a 20-MP sensor with a similar aperture to the former. The OnePlus 6 will also harness electronic image stabilization to minimize shakiness and noise. This could be one of the things that will set the OnePlus 6 apart from other flagship phones, as they typically use optical image stabilization. As for its front shooter, it’s believed that it will have a 20-MP resolution.
