Oppo launched the R15 along with the R15 Dream Mirror Edition (also known as R15 Pro) on May 7 in Taiwan. Both devices come with higher price points than the ones sold in China - the former is priced NT$15,990 (around $535) while the latter comes with a price tag of NT$ 18,990 (around $635). Whereas, the R15 in China costs 2,999 Yuan (around $470) while the R15 Pro is priced $3,2999 Yuan (around $520).
Although these two devices come with different price points, they offer similar features, with the R15 Dream Mirror Edition packing more flagship features. Both handsets come with a 6.28-inch display with OLED panel and Full HD resolution. They also have a notch at the top, similar to the iPhone X, and a 19:9 aspect ratio that is a popular trend among mobile phones these days.
The R15 runs on Mediatek MT6771 chip with 6GB of RAM and 128GB onboard storage, which can be expanded up to 256GB via microSD card. It gets its juice from a 3450 mAh battery which is slightly bigger than the R15 Pro with 3,400 mAh. The R15’s battery is packed with a fast-charging support technology that fills its battery with juice in less time than some other mid-range phones on the market. It also sports powerful cameras – two at the back and one in front. The dual cameras come with 16-MP and 5-MP sensors while the front shooter is loaded with a 20-MP sensor.
Meanwhile, the R15 Pro houses a Snapdragon 660 chip coupled with a 6GB of RAM and 128GB internal storage which is expandable up to 256 GB using a microSD card. As mentioned, its battery capacity is smaller compared to the core R15, which is unusual for a “Pro” variant. In addition, the R15 Pro packs better dual cameras with 16-MP and 20-MP sensors and a 20-MP selfie snapper.
The Oppo R15 and R15 Pro have only been released in China so far, while they will hit store shelves in Taiwan starting June 1. There hasn’t been any confirmation yet regarding Oppo R15 price and availability in the Philippines, although there are rumors that it will launch sometime in June.
