Oppo R5 Philippines – Form over function

Like all Oppo smartphones, the first thing you’ll notice about the Oppo R5 is the slim, stylish, futuristic looks of the handset. In the race for the thinnest smartphone in the world, Oppo R5 certainly makes headlines. Oppo has pushed the boundaries in size and form of the Oppo R5. A combination of metal and glass make the outer casing interesting and easy to hold in the palm of your hand. It is 4.85mm thin from the side. Dials are on the right hand side with the left side completely blank. The Oppo R5 has no audio headset jack. Instead, headphones are plugged in using microUSB slot. Along with capacitive buttons, all these features allow for seamless design in the Oppo R5’s exterior.

More Oppo R5 features

Crystal clear display adds to the Oppo R5’s aesthetics. Powered by a 5.2 inch AMOLED 1080p display at 423ppi, the Oppo R5 vivid graphics make for perfect viewing. Colours are vibrant and saturated and clarity is bright even when out in sunlight. Ultimately, it’s what’s underneath that attracts every user. With a Snapdragon 615 (Optacore 64-bit processor) Adreno 405 with 2GB of RAM, processor speed is fast enough for daily applications and tasks. Apps open quickly and smooth. 16GB of internal storage allows for more memory space.

For the camera, the rear camera is 13MP with a variety of app features along with downloadable add-ons to customize your photography. Some of Oppo R5’s key features in the camera app are the low light (slow shutter speed) setting that allows you to shoot in lower light conditions, granted you have a steady hand. The camera captures vivid colours even indoors making it suitable for capturing stills of food and indoor activities. Battery life may not be impressive, but Oppo’s rapid charge charger saves you time on charging and battery life. On top of this, the Tap to Wake feature allows the user to access the phone with just one tap to the screen. Some Samsung-ish features such as the motion sensing features are present. Overall, the Oppo R5 is a unique smartphone that you might want to look into.

Smartphone manufacturers are obsessed with thinness, although I would favor a handset with awesome battery life than a super slim chassis, and this tends to be echoed by many others. After all, with more powerful processors and brighter, higher resolution...
