Vivo V15 Review Philippines
- Excellent camera performance
- Great performance
- Can last for the whole day
- Immersive display
- Affordable mid-range price
- No USB-C
- No face unlock
- UI takes a while to learn
- Quick-charge gives 38% charge level in 30 minutes
The V15 is a powerful mid-range phone powered by Mediatek Helio P70 chipset, an octa-core processor, and 6GB RAM. This model is the lower-tier version of the Vivo V15 Pro which was released later in April 2019. Right out of the box, the phone comes with the following:
- Case with a black rubber grip
- A sim ejector
- Warranty card
- Quick start guide
- Fast charging brick
- A micro USB cable (not USB-C)
Body - Glass Front, Plastic Back
The Vivo V15 is a big phone, packing 6.5 inches of screen, weighing 189.5 g which is slightly heavier than an iPhone 11 Pro and even the Note 10 Plus. The rear is made from polycarbonate with attractive gradient colours in Topaz Blue, Glamour Red, Frozen Black, and Royal Blue. Although most phones today are now drop-resistant, you still might want to be careful not to drop this phone due to the prominent rear camera bump.
Besides that, the back also features a fingerprint scanner that is easy to reach and convenient. You can also use its dual sim feature to add another phone number as well as expand your storage. Another distinct feature on its body is its motorized pop-up camera which we will dig deeper into later in this article.
Display - Massive 6.5-Inch Display
The V15 has a massive 6.5-inch display with Ultra Full View In-Cell full HD+ display (1080x2340 pixels) protected by Corning Glass Gorilla 5. Right out of the bat, you would notice that this model is riding the “notch-free” bandwagon as with Oppo and even OnePlus. Although it is notch-free, it’s not chin-free, something that most Android smartphones cannot emulate from iPhones and it’s the reason why most Apple models are expensive. The display provides a crisp view with a minimal colour shift from different angles. You’re not really missing out on anything in terms of the display if you compare the display with a higher-tier model or other flagship phones.
Camera - Motorized Front and Triple Rear Sensors
For many consumers, the camera is one of the most important specs; after all, it is the one we often use, and the Vivo V15 does not disappoint in this department. Its most distinct feature is its motorized front camera with 32MP with an aperture of f/2.0. This means it is great for taking selfies in low-light conditions. If you switch to selfie mode, the phone lets off a “robotic” sound which can be switched on or off on the camera settings.
Jumping on the triple-lens bandwagon first started by Huawei, the brand gives it its own spin of 12MP+8MP+5MP. The 12MP is the main camera supported by an 8MP 13mm ultrawide angle lens that can capture 108-degree shots. The 5MP serves as a depth sensor for those professional DSLR shots and bokeh features. This model also has the software to support its camera setup. The selfie camera is supported by its Body Shaping AI that resembles FaceTune but for your body (thoughtful!) while the rear is equipped with software to automatically remove lens distortion for wide-angle shots for an undisturbed image.
Performance - Sizeable Storage
The Vivo V15 is powered by a Mediatek Helio P70 chipset, an octa-core processor, and 6GB RAM. As for storage, you can choose between 64GB and 128GB variants, but both can be expanded up to 256GB using a memory card. For the price range, you get what you pay for in terms of speed and performance. The phone's operating system runs on Android 9 stock with Funtouch 9 UI. Unless you are moving up from another Vivo smartphone, it can be challenging to adjust to its UI.
Battery - Lasts the Whole day
The V15 has a 4,000 mAh battery that can last the whole day. Considering its large display and processing power, the increase in capacity is only necessary to cope with demands in performance plus you can squeeze out a bit more for gaming or heavy-duty use. After a full day, you can quickly charge your phone using its Quick Charge 3.0 adaptor. Compared to other phones in the same price range, it only manages to get a 38% charge level in 30 minutes.

Is Vivo V15 waterproof?
The Vivo V15 is definitely not waterproof. Though it has a non-removable back cover, still, it is not waterproof. It may sustain a few splashes of water, but it will not withstand a drop in water. IP67 or IP68 certification is not very easy to attain. All the ports, SIM tray, and speakers need to be waterproof and ensure no water penetrates. You need to be careful while using your phone, if it drops in water, you definitely need to get a new one.
Is the Vivo V15 good for gaming?
The Vivo V15 is a respectable piece of gaming hardware, in large part thanks to the Mediatek Helio P70 chip. Coupled with 6GB RAM, it handles games with relative ease, tackling Rules of Survival, PUBG Mobile, NBA 2k19, and more with zero issues.
