About Vivo V5

For a high-end smartphone, its important that every specification is exclusive. And with this Vivo V5, the Chinese manufacturers have gone to the next level, especially with its camera. But that is just half of what this smartphone is all about. Read on!

Vivo V5: A Smartphone for the Best Possible Selfies and More

Smartphones are simply becoming smarter. And exclusivity is a major factor in these products. Added to that exclusive features and a high value-for-money ratio, these are just what a smartphone needs to make a mark in the Philippines market and other leading ones around the world.

The recently launched Vivo V5 looks like a small blockbuster with Vivo giving everything they can for a mid-range smartphone. And this mobile packs a solid punch with pre-loaded higher-range features. But what makes this Vivo V5 a proper buying proposition is its camera setup.

Camera and Imaging Techs co-engineered with Sony

A 20 MP front camera with Sony IMX376 Image Sensor makes it a proper potent device for taking the perfect selfie. Sensor size comes in at 1 /2.78" and a f/2.0 aperture. The 5P fixed-focus lens system aids the whole setup.

Also, Vivo V5 comes equipped with a Selfie Spotlight or a 'moonlight flash' for the perfect light and an overall photography-studio level imaging. This device comes retro-fitted with Face Beauty Mode 6.0 software for post-capture editing and also has a one-tap image makeover feature.

All of these features lead to exquisitely detailed front cam pics with vivid details and superior quality. Shutter lag is at a minimum and only show in case of fast-moving objects. Radiant pictures and detailed editing all lead to an easy more than average imaging experience.

The 13 MP rear camera is clearly overshadowed by the up front. But this too provides much more than above average 1080p video recording with minimal video lag and works quite well in low light environments. Multiple shooting modes including the likes of PPT, slow-motion, hyper-lapse will not leave the user wanting more. But the lack of video or image stabilization is minutely evident.

Design and Build

It does look quite familiar, at first glance, in design elements mixing from iPhones and even a bit from OnePlus 3. The faux-metal chassis compliments the Corning Gorilla Glass protection on display. And this phone does give off a feeling of a solid build quality although its slim and offers a decent hold weighing in at just around 154 grams.

Back-lit front facing navigation buttons house a central Home button which in turn incorporates a fingerprint sensor. Speaker grilles along with headphone plug-ins and Micro-USB ports are all clumped together at the bottom.

A 5.5-inch IPS display works as the screen interface. It offers above average color saturation, even up to the level of an AMOLED display. Users will have zero complaints against this display manifold at least for such a mid-range smartphone.

Performance and Memory

This Vivo V5 runs on an Octa-Core MediaTek MT6570 SoC, and it's pretty quick with a 4 GB RAM and a 32 GB internal storage. External memory can be extended till 128 GB with a MicroSD card.

Software and Other Added Features

An Android 6.0 Marshmallow runs the show on this smartphone. This is a custom-OS, something that immediately separates it from other smartphones out there. It comes with numerous added software features such as FunTouchOS 2.6, Now on Tap and added battery optimization options to name a few.

Fingerprint unlocking is very accurate and quick; official stats come in at 0.2 seconds. Umpteen sound qualities is another aspect of this model with a custom-created AK4376 dedicated audio processor with a huge 115dB signal to noise ratio.

Philippine Market Review

This is a mid-range smartphone with a load of features and a few added ones too. Given that its USP is the 20MP camera, this mid-range has certain specialized add-ons which make it a reliable product for Vivo in the Philippines market.

This Vivo V5 has garnered quite a bit of hype and customer interest in the Philippines and will look to do so especially with the young gen and teenagers craving for the best selfies now and again.

About the Company

Vivo is a new player in the smartphone market. Founded in 2009 in Guangdong, they have already managed to create a proper customer base in East and Southeast Asian markets with products like the Vivo V3, Y55, Y51 and this Vivo V5.
