Creative Interventions for Children of Divorce
₱ 2,347.00
Galleon

Many children are referred for counseling to help them adjust to divorce. They typically feel vulnerable and overwhelmed by conflicting emotions. They may feel anxious about the therapeutic process and be reluctant to talk directly about the divorce. Activities that are creative and play based can engage children and help them to safely express their thoughts and feelings. This book provides practitioners with creative interventions to engage, assess, and treat children of divorce. A range of innovative activities are presented, including therapeutic games, art, puppets, and stories. The first section of this book, which contains guidelines for practitioners, lays the foundation for effective counseling with children of divorce. Section Two presents a theoretical overview on children of divorce and incorporates some of the latest literature on the topic. The third section provides material for use with parents including a social history questionnaire, and a reproducible handout. Sections five through seven provide creative activities to help children express feelings, deal with loyalty binds, disengage from parental conflict, address anger and self-blame, and learn coping strategies. In addition to activities for use in individual and family sessions, there is also a ten-week group curriculum. The Appendix includes a treatment plan as well as a sample letter for the practitioner to give to the child upon termination from therapy. This book is an innovative resource for practitioners seeking engaging tools to help children cope with separation and divorce.

Creative Change: Why We Resist It...How We Can Embrace It
₱ 1,360.00
Galleon

One of the nation’s leading psychologists asks why today’s corporate leaders desire but reject creative solutions—and finds some surprising conclusions. All corporate CEOs, top executives, and other business leaders say they want creativity and need real innovation in order to thrive in a competitive world. But according to startling research from former Wharton management professor Jennifer Mueller, the truth is that many business leaders chronically reject creative solutions and often embrace the familiar, even as they profess commitment to innovation. Mueller’s research also reveals that it’s not just CEOs, but educators, scientists, and many, many others who often struggle to accept new and creative ideas even when desired. Mueller parses the tough questions that these findings raise. Could people love but also hate creative ideas? Could the mindset we use to evaluate ideas turn this love or hate on or off—in an instant? Do experts struggle even more than novices with this bias? And even more startling, could the “best practices” that organizations employ to manage innovation activate this bias, and inadvertently, kill innovation? Mueller diagnoses this hidden innovation barrier, and provides solutions, including: A four-step process (and a fifth lifeline) to self-disrupt your current mindset and recognize creative opportunity; an idea-pitching framework aimed at helping you overcome other peoples’ sticky preference for the status quo; key organizational levers to disrupt the cultural beliefs holding your company back; tips to more accurately recognize creative leaders who can lead organizations in productive new directions, and strategies to generate ideas without harming your ability to make them count with the decision-makers. Based on the latest psychological studies in the field, along with numerous illustrative examples, Creative Change is the kind of provocative creative leadership book that will be discussed for years to come.

Creative Teaching Methods: Be An Effective Christian Teacher
₱ 2,622.00
Galleon

Do you ever wonder why Jeffrey talks all of the time? Or why Toni can't sit still? Or why Alex loves work sheets? Or why Jordan is always trying something new? Each chapter is fun to read, stimulating, and immensely practical. This book is valuable to teachers, and for preachers, too. DAVID R. MAINS DIRECTOR CHAPEL OF THE AIR It's about time. Creative Teaching Methods is not just another book on the theory of creativity (which we don't need). Rather, it is a book on the practice of creativity in the classroom (which we desperately need). This is a book you will use over and over again. Creative Teaching Methods is loaded with practical and usable ideas that will make creative teaching a reality in your classroom. Without hesitation, I would recommend this book to anyone who teaches young people or adults. MIKE YACONELLI PRESIDENT YOUTH SPECIALTIES Marlene LeFever makes the principle of learning through creative participation come alive for Christian education. Creative methods are vividly and invitingly explored for their potential for deepening the spiritual life through new ways of hearing the Word of God and using heretofore untapped personal resources in responding to it. Unique in its assumption that in Christian education creativity is just as essential in work with youth and adults as it is in work with children. D. CAMPBELL WYCKOFF PROFESSOR OF CHRISTIAN EDUCATION EMERITUS PRINCETON THEOLOGICAL SEMINARY Marlene D. LeFever is Manager of Ministry Relations for David C. Cook Church Ministries, holds a master of Christian education and is a frequent speaker at Sunday School conventions, writers' conferences, and professional organizations.
