Following the box office success of 2013's Finding Mr. Right, stars Tang Wei and Wu Xiubo and director Xue Xiaolu come together again for the romantic feature Book of Love, which proved to be another big hit. Spanning three continents, this brand new story of love and letters revolves around two people, half a world apart, serendipitously connected by Helene Hanff's classic novel 84, Charing Cross Road. Jiao Ye (Tang Wei) is a sassy casino worker in Macau who longs for love, but has her hands full dealing with her father's leftover debt and her own gambling problem. Daniel (Wu Xiubo) is a commitment-averse real estate agent in Los Angeles who specializes in selling properties to wealthy Chinese. These two strangers on opposite sides of the world each happen to acquire a copy of 84, Charing Cross Road, and blame their recent bad luck on the book. On a whim, both Jiao Ye and Daniel decide to get rid of the book by sending it to 84 Charing Cross Road in London. However, Mr. Thomas, the shopkeeper at 84 Charing Cross Road, swaps their books and sends them back. Surprised to receive another copy of the book back, Jiao Ye and Daniel reply through letter and Mr. Thomas forwards their correspondence to each other. Thus begins a pen-pal relationship that starts out testy but comes to hold increasing meaning as they gradually fall in love without ever having met each other.

Get ready to swing! From the makers of Shall We Dance? and Waterboys comes Swing Girls, an inspirational zero-to-hero tale about a group of girls who find their rhythm - and then some! Tomoko (Ueno Juri) leads a group of bored girls stuck in remedial summer math class, who decide to ditch their boring teacher (Takenaka Naoto) to deliver lunches to the school brass band. But the girls' extreme laziness causes the lunches to spoil, and soon nearly the entire brass band gets sick. The remaining member is Takuo (Hiraoka Yuto), who recruits Tomoko's classmate Sekiguchi (Motokariya Yuika) into the band, even though Sekiguchi's musical talents are entirely in question. But Tomoko and the other girls soon follow, partly to get out of math class, and partly because it's their fault that the entire band got sick in the first place! But there's a catch: nobody knows how to play a wind or brass instrument, much to the dismay of Takuo, who proposes that the girls play swing band jazz - and take their act all the way to a battle-of-the-bands finale! Will the girls find a way to swing like tested jazz musicians, or will they discover that maybe math isn't so bad?Directed by Yaguchi Shinobu (Waterboys), Swing Girls struck a chord with audiences thanks to its feel-good emotions and energetic cast of young girls, and ranked eighth at the Japanese box office for 2004. Like the characters they play, many of the actors were strangers to their instruments when filming began, and learned to play as filming went on! Full of humor, heart, and more than a little satisfying irreverence, Swing Girls is a toe-tapping, crowd-pleasing good time at the movies!

Edko Films Ltd. Too Young To Die (VCD) (Hong Kong Version)

Being invited to Cannes and the Venice Film Festival, The 2002 Korean docudrama "Too Young to Die" shocks all with a real story about an ageing couple Park Chi-gyu and Lee Sun-ye. Their youthfulness, the powerful feelings they cherish for each other and not lastly their unusually active sex life are all explored in this controversial movie without reservation. Director Park Jin-pyo first met the 73-year-old Park Chi-gyu and his 72-year-old partner Lee Sun-ye while making a TV documentary last year. Struck by their youthfulness, the strength of their feelings for each other and, not least, by their remarkably active sex life, he proposed filming this docu-drama, in which they re-enact their first meeting, their current lives together and the high and low points of their relationship. The film (shot as simply as possible on DV) deliberately avoids going into their personal histories and backgrounds (both have outlived their spouses and both have grandchildren), the better to focus on their intense commitment to each other and their fears of being apart. Only one episode in the film is pure documentary: the sequence at a folk-song competition, which they win with a performance of "The Song of Youth". But all of it feels entirely truthful, including the charmingly uninhibited scenes on the futon.

My Sassy Girl's Jeon Ji Hyun makes her English-language debut in the 2009 fantasy action thriller Blood: The Last Vampire directed by Chris Nahon (Kiss of the Dragon). Based on the same-titled 2000 animated feature, Blood revolves around a mysterious female slayer who battles hordes of vampires in postwar Japan. Billed under her English name Gianna, Jeon Ji Hyun dons the trademark pigtails and sailor suit uniform for a tough-as-nails turn as the katana-wielding heroine. Playing Jeon's arch-nemesis is another crossover Asian star, popular Japanese actress Koyuki from The Last Samurai. Featuring impressive CG effects and sword and wirework action choreographed by Corey Yuen (Red Cliff), Blood: The Last Vampire presents a gritty, gothic world of fantastical adventure and thrilling action. Though she looks like a teenage girl, Saya (Jeon Ji Hyun) has actually been hunting bloodsuckers for centuries. Allied with a top-secret government organization, Saya's only goal is to track down Onigen, the most powerful of all vampires. Her quest brings her to a US military airbase which has seen numerous vampire attacks. Saya goes undercover at the local high school to investigate, but all hell breaks loose when classmate and general's daughter Alice (Allison Miller) discovers her identity. Much blood is shed and vampires slayed as Saya's dark past is slowly revealed, bringing her closer than ever to Onigen.

After 23 years and millions of copies sold worldwide, Murakami Haruki's landmark novel Norwegian Wood finally hits the big screen with Vietnamese director Tran Anh Hung (Scent of the Green Papaya) at the helm. Working with famed Taiwanese cinematographer Lee Ping Bin (In the Mood For Love) and a top-notch design team, Tran creates a visually gorgeous world for his recreation of Japan during the tumultuous 1960s. The film's award-winning cinematography (2010 Asian Film Awards) and hypnotic score (by Radiohead's Jonny Greenwood) serve as integral factors in visualizing Murakami's bittersweet tale about death, unrequited love, and sexual awakening. Previously thought to be impossible for a cinematic adaptation, Murakami himself offered comments on the script during the pre-production process, making this a rare officially approved adaptation of the author's work. Despite the challenging material, Norwegian Wood managed to attract some of Japan's most talented young actors, including Matsuyama Kenichi (Death Note) as protagonist Watanabe, Kikuchi Rinko (Babel) as the fragile Naoko, and model Mizuhara Kiko as the outgoing Midori in an acclaimed film debut. One of the most anticipated films of 2010, the film was given a high-profile spot in the competition section of the Venice Film Festival. Japan, late 1960s. After the suicide of his best friend Kizuki (Kora Kengo), Watanabe (Matsuyama Kenichi) goes out to Tokyo to attend university. By chance, he reunites with Kizuki's girlfriend Naoko (Kikuchi Rinko) in the city, bringing their dark past to the present. After spending one night together, Naoko suddenly suffers a mental breakdown and retreats to a hospital deep in the forest of Kyoto. While Watanabe continues to pine for the emotionally unstable mess that is Naoko, he also succumbs to the charm of outgoing classmate Midori (Mizuhara Kiko). Who will Watanabe choose in the end - Naoko the past, or Midori the future?

Edko Films Ltd. Tokyo Tower - Mom & Me, And Sometimes Dad (VCD) (Hong Kong Version)

Lily Franky's bestselling novel Tokyo Tower - Mom & Me, and Sometimes Dad has already spawned a drama special, a TV series, and a 2007 feature film starring Odagiri Joe. As the title suggests, the story focuses on a touching mother-son relationship amidst the lights of 1970s Tokyo. Without bells or whistles, Lily Franky's autobiography has sold over two million copies in Japan on the force of its nostalgic, heart-tugging story, and the film directed by Matsuoka Joji (Sayonara, Kuro) has found similar success at the Japanese box office. Acclaimed actor Odagiri Joe (Yureru), in a markedly restrained performance, stars as the son, alongside real-life mother-and-daughter actresses Kiki Kirin and Uchida Yayako, who play the mother in her young and elder years. The film also co-stars popular actress Matsu Takako (The Hidden Blade) and veteran actor Kobayashi Kaoru, and features a long line-up of unassuming celebrity cameos. Touching a common chord with both critics and moviegoers, Tokyo Tower - Mom & Me, and Sometimes Dad has received 14 nominations at the 31st Japan Academy Awards, nods in every possible category. After moving from the coal mining town of Fukuoka to Tokyo to study art, Masaya (Odagiri Joe) finds himself fumbling in life, unable to set a direction for himself. Masaya takes after both his parents, and is often balancing both the good and the bad he has inherited from his strong, gentle mother and reckless, irresponsible father. Lost in the bright lights of the big city, he struggles to make a living. Everything changes one day when he finds out that his mother has been diagnosed with cancer...

₱ 1,899.00

Having already proven his acting chops and box office draw with the blockbusters Initial D and Curse of the Golden Flower, Taiwanese singer Jay Chou makes his directorial debut with the romantic drama Secret. In addition to starring and directing, Chou came up with the original story and music for the film and he proves to be remarkably assured on all counts, making Secret one of the most pleasant surprises of 2007. While the director himself is still a relative newcomer to acting, co-stars Anthony Wong and Guey Lun Mei (Blue Gate Crossing) are both extremely talented actors, with Guey giving an especially captivating performance as the film's mysterious female lead. Chou also smartly plays to his own strengths by displaying his piano skills on screen and enlisting friends Yu Hao, Zhang Jie, and Devon of Nan Quan Mama as supporting cast. An affecting mix of puppy love, suspense, and wistful tunes, this sweet, subtle, and engaging film adds another notch to Chairman Chou's long list of accomplishments. High school student Jay (Jay Chou) just transferred to the school that his father (Anthony Wong) is teaching at. On his first day, he meets cute and coy classmate Rain (Guey Lun Mei) in the piano room. The two immediately hit it off and develop a shy romance around piano playing and bike riding. Despite their close relationship, Rain remains mysterious and distant as she is often absent from school and seems to be full of secrets. When Jay tries to inquire further, she whispers to him that she has a secret that cannot be spoken, a secret that can tear them apart. This edition comes with making of, theatrical trailer, photo gallery, and other extras.

Genghis Khan conquers the big screen with the epic biopic Genghis Khan - To the Ends of the Earth and Sea (a.k.a. The Blue Wolf: To the Ends of the Earth and Sea)! Helmed by Sawai Shinichiro, the award-winning director of Kadokawa classics Tragedy of W and Early Spring Story, Genghis Khan is a grand production in every sense of the word. Shot entirely on location in the vast grasslands of Mongolia, this unprecedented co-production, made in commemoration of the 800th anniversary of the founding of Mongolia, employed a whopping 30 million yen budget and thousands of extras to stunningly recreate the spectacular battles and military feats of Genghis Khan. Five thousand real-life Mongolian Army soldiers appeared as extras for an epic battle scene, and 27,000 people were mobilized to shoot the enthronement ceremony. Sorimachi Takashi, who also starred in Kadokawa's 2005 blockbuster Yamato, plays with furious gusto the young warrior Temujin who would become the greatest khan Mongolia and the world has ever known, leaving behind him a legacy that would long outlast his empire. Adapted from a Morimura Seiichi novel, the film takes historical liberties but stays true to spirit in its depiction of the complicated figure that is Genghis Khan. Genghis Khan details both the khan's brave military exploits, his ruthless political machinations, and the personal episodes that shape his life - his friendship and eventual rivalry with Jamuqa (Hirayama Yusuke, Limit of Love: Uzimaru), his courtship of tribal princess Bolte (Kikukawa Rei, Install), his obsession with origin and lineage. One of the biggest titles of 2007, Genghis Khan is a larger-than-life film befitting a larger-than-life historical figure.

Based on the novel Five Point Someone, the blockbuster comedy 3 Idiots follows the lives of three students in a prestigious engineering school and their struggles against its rigid, traditional system. Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan (Lagaan) stars as the outspoken Rancho, a talented engineering student who strongly believes that passion and creativity - not grades - should be the motivation for learning, even though the school's stubborn dean doesn't agree. Director Rajkumar Hirani presents a hilarious and genuinely moving journey that brings on the laughs as often as it touches the heart. A box office hit around the world (even in Taiwan), 3 Idiots is a critically acclaimed crowd-pleaser that transcends cultural borders. The musical sequences in the film may be uniquely Bollywood, but the issues it deals with are universal.

Few people have made as big an impact on Korean cinema as Lee Chang Dong in the last ten years. A former novelist and scriptwriter of masterpieces like To the Starry Island, Lee made his debut in 1997 with Green Fish, which is arguably the best Korean gangster film of the last twenty years. Released in 2002, his third film, Oasis, was not only important for Lee himself, but for Korean cinema as a whole, as Moon So Ri's unforgettable performance in the film brought her a prize at the Venice Film Festival, along with one for director Lee. He's a former convict, she has cerebral palsy. Two outcasts at an isolated desert oasis. Hong Jong Du (Sol Kyung Gu) just got out of prison for a hit and run accident, and when he tries to contact the family of the victim, he meets Han Kong Ju (Moon So Ri), the daughter of the man he apparently killed. At first the two feel uncomfortable, but Kong Ju finds quickly he's the only one who truly respects her, despite the warnings from her family. But can they continue to meet with their families interfering all the time?

Hong Kong cinema legends Stephen Chow and Tsui Hark team up for the blockbuster fantasy comedy Journey to the West: The Demons Strike Back, the sequel to Chow's 2013 Journey to the West: Conquering the Demons. Released to massive box office during the 2017 Chinese New Year period, The Demons Strike Back marks Chow's first collaboration with Tsui who assumed directing reins for the film, while Chow served as writer and producer. Based on famous chapters of Wu Cheng'en's literary tome, The Demons Strike Back chronicles the party of four's infighting during their journey to the west and their eye-popping battles with various demons and nemeses, played by Yao Chen (Chronicles of the Ghostly Tribe), Mermaid's Jelly Lin, Wang Likun (Somewhere Only We Know) and Bao Bei'er (Lost in Hong Kong).

Known for intimate dramas like Springtime in a Small Town and The Go Master, Fifth Generation filmmaker Tian Zhuangzhuang joins the epic ranks with an enthralling Warring States period mythical fantasy based on an Inoue Yasushi short story. What Tian presents, however, is far from a typical big-budget battlefield movie, but rather a raw, meditative, and aesthetically mesmerizing allegory about war and lust, wolves and men. Acclaimed Japanese actor Odagiri Joe (Dream) and sultry starlet Maggie Q (Mission Impossible III) fall into fated love and fatal attraction against beautiful landscapes shaped by Mother Nature and brutal circumstances forged by primal human nature. Sent to the remote borders of China to conquer nomadic tribes, weary warrior Lu (Odagiri Joe) takes shelter from the snow in a strange village with his troops after a tough battle. There he encounters a beautiful and mysterious outcast widow (Maggie Q) whom he takes by force. Lust turns to passion over seven days and seven nights, making it harder and harder for Lu to leave the village. She warns him of an ancient curse: any outsider who consummates with her will turn into a wolf...

The summer gets so much hotter with a bunch of beautiful babes in beach volleyball action! Beach Spike delivers abundant fan service with its attractive cast of hot models and pop idols, beginning with Chrissie Chau, Theresa Fu, and Jessica C., bouncing around in skimpy outfits. While acting chops may not be one of their strengths, the girls received three months of athletic training prior to filming, and they are covered by a pleasant supporting cast made up of Him Law, Lam Suet, Candice Yu, Sharon Yang, Alex Lam, Philip Ng, and Shaw legend Monk Law. Combining an inspiring sports theme with some lighthearted youthful romantic comedy, and even throwing Chinese kung fu into the mix a la Shaolin Soccer, director Tony Tang scores a winner in his live-action directorial debut after the animated film Little Gobie 3D. On the scenic beach of Paradise Cove, Sharon (Chrissie Chau) and Rachel (Theresa Fu) work at the restaurant of their martial artist uncle (Monk Law) and are avid players of beach volleyball. Their carefree days are over when the wealthy Mrs. Brewer (Candice Yu) plans to acquire the land and develop it into a holiday resort, which is met with strong opposition from the residents. Even Mrs. Brewer's son Tim (Him Law), who has fallen in love with Sharon, openly defies her. Then both sides agree to settle the dispute by beach volleyball - the locals' team will enter an upcoming tournament against Mrs. Brewer's daughters Natalie (Jessica C.) and Natasha (Phoenix Valen), and whoever wins decides the fate of Paradise Cove... From Min Kyu Dong, director of Memento Mori, comes All for Love, a winning romantic comedy that details several different, but equally compelling kinds of love stories. Rather than present each of the six stories separately, the director cleverly overlaps them, having every story occur during the same event-filled week. Promoted as a Korean version of Love Actually, this highly romantic film, also known by the alternative titles The Most Beautiful Week of My Life and My Lovely Week has a story for just about everyone! First off, there's the love-hate relationship between the macho Detective Nah (a hilarious Hwang Jeong Min, from You Are My Sunshine) and a psychiatrist divorcee named Yu Jeong (the equally comic Uhm Jung Hwa, from Singles). Then there's the relationship between Chang Hu (Im Chang Jeong from Cracked Eggs and Noodles) and Seon Ae (Seo Yeong Hi), one that endures even in the face of abject poverty. There's also the middle-aged romance between theater owner Gwak (Ju Heon) and the eternally vain Oh (Oh Mi Hi). But not all love depicted in the film is romantic; All for Love also features a tale of a bachelor named Song Won (Kim Soo Ro, from Libera Me) and his paternal love for a precocious little six year old (Kim Yu Jeong). In addition, the film doesn't shy away from forbidden romances either: one, between nun-to-be Su Gyeong (Yoon Jin Seo, from Sympathy for Lady Vengeance) and a singer Jeong Hun (Jeong Kyeong Ho, from TV's Sweet 18); the other, an illicit love between a lonely divorced man (Cheon Ho Jin) and his male housekeeper (Kim Tae Hyeon). How will all these many loves fare? Find out in All for Love, a multi-story romantic comedy, sure to please viewers looking for a little love...at the movies!

Pedro Almodovar, one of the greatest directors of contemporary cinema, presents his latest award-winning masterpiece Volver. The six actresses shared the Best Actress award at the Cannes Film Festival in recognition of their flawless performances in delivering the complicated roles. Volver, meaning "return" in Spanish, marks Almodovar's return to the theme of motherhood, which very few films can deal with better than his All About My Mother. Volver opens with young mother Raimunda (Penelope Cruz), her teenage daughter, and her elder sister Sole cleaning their mother's gravestone in the village of La Mancha. Their aunt Paula, who can hardly take care of herself, lives in the village, taken care of by her neighbor Augustina. Recently, traces of the ghost of Raimunda's mother, who died in a fire years ago, have been lingering in La Mancha. Apart from paying a tribute to all mothers, Almodovar also reflects upon the meaning of death with his unique wit and sensibility in Volver, offering fans one of the finest pictures in European cinema.

After a couple of smaller films, influential China director Zhang Yimou (Hero) is back with an epic production. His latest work, the powerful historical war drama The Flowers of War has attracted unprecedented worldwide attention for a Chinese film, due in part to the casting of Oscar-winning actor Christian Bale (The Dark Knight). Budgeted at approximately US$100 million, the most expensive Chinese film ever managed to recoup its hefty cost at the local box office alone, and the success wasn't limited to home soil. Zhang's rousing tale of redemption and self-sacrifice has also been favored internationally; its critical recognition included a Best Foreign Language Film nomination at the Golden Globe Awards. Besides a gripping story, stunning war scenes, and lush period details, one of the most acclaimed aspects of the film is the introduction of a group of fresh new actors, most notably female lead Ni Ni, who had received two years of vigorous training in preparation for the production. Adapted from the novel by renowned writer Yan Geling, The Flowers of War tells a deeply affecting story set during the tragic Nanjing Massacre in 1937, when the then-capital of China was brutally torn apart by the Japanese Imperial Army. One of the few places yet to be taken by the invaders is a Catholic cathedral, where a group of teenaged convent schoolgirls resides. Also seeking shelter there is an American mortician named John Miller (Christian Bale), followed by fourteen courtesans from the local brothel led by Yumo (Ni Ni), as well as Chinese soldier Li (Tong Dawei) and his wounded comrade. Their temporary and uneasy peace in the sacred sanctuary is soon shattered by the arrival of the Japanese army. Under the most harrowing circumstances, it's the desperate low-lives who rise to the occasion in an extraordinary display of bravery... Featuring heavyweights Sammi Cheng (Blind Detective) and Nick Cheung (Hungry Ghost Ritual) in their first major collaboration, Temporary Family is a romantic comedy that lampoons the state of Hong Kong's real estate market. Home to the world's most expensive property per square foot, the Hong Kong real estate market is akin to an exclusive club one can never hope to enter for many who live in the metropolitan city. No one understands this better than real estate agent Lung (Nick Cheung), whose girlfriend Julie (TV actress Myolie Wu) has given him an ultimatum: deliver her a 1000-square-foot apartment in a stylish neighborhood, or she won't marry him. Hoping to make a quick buck, Lung convinces recent divorcee Charlotte (Sammi Cheng), his stepdaughter from a previous marriage Hak (Angelababy, Tai Chi 0) and Mainland rich kid Very Wong (singer Oho Ou) to go into business with him and become co-owners of a luxury penthouse. However, their plan to flip the property for cash falls to pieces when the government enacts new legislation. Now abandoned by Julie, Lung moves into the penthouse, forming a "temporary family" with Charlotte, Hak and Very. This edition includes behind-the-scenes featurettes.

Waterboys and Swing Girls director Yaguchi Shinobu takes you into the woods of Japan in Wood Job!, a hilarious comedy about the transformation of one young man from city slacker to a man of the woods. Sometani Shota (The Eternal Zero) stars as Yuki, a student who just failed his university entrance exam. After seeing a recruitment ad for a one-year forestry work program featuring a pretty woman (Nagasawa Masami), he decides to join the program to kill time before retaking the exams. However, Yuki arrives in the woods to discover that Naoki, the girl on the ad, is not the cute woman he expected.
