How to Tell If Your Little One has Allergies in the Philippines
Don’t panic if your little one gets an allergic reaction. Their bodies and immune systems are still getting used to the bacteria and stimulants that may be harmless to adults. In this article, you can learn how to pinpoint the symptoms of baby and infant allergies and ways to treat the reaction.
What’s an Allergy?
To be more specific, allergy in babies usually signals a damaging immune response by the body to a foreign substance. An allergic reaction can be triggered by various of things like food, pollen, fabric, and dust. For infants, allergic reactions can be signaled by rash, upset stomach, runny nose, and general crankiness.
It is important to distinguish between a normal cold and an allergic reaction because if left untreated, the latter can lead to more serious medical problems. Pay attention to your baby’s respiratory tract, eyes, skin, stomach, and behavior. Take note of how your baby cough, wheeze, and how their nasal discharge looks like.
Preventing Allergies
If your family has a history of food allergies, your little one has a higher chance of attaining the same vulnerability as well. If this is the case, there are numbers of ways you can try to prevent an allergic reaction. The most obvious way is to feed your babies carefully. If it’s possible for you, try making your own baby food instead of using store-bought products.
Try to breastfeed your child for at least six months and if you attempt to do so, avoid consuming allergenic foods like eggs, fish, milk, and nuts. Cover your mattresses and pillows with dust-mite-proof and hypoallergenic cases. If you own any pets, try leaving your cats or dogs in a pet hotel for at least a week. Make sure to regularly dust and vacuum your home especially if your floor is carpeted and during pollen seasons.
Treating Baby Allergies
If after all the preventative methods your baby still acquires allergic reactions, there are several ways you can treat the reaction from home. One way you can treat a baby’s allergic reaction is by using a formula. Formulas like Nutramigen act as a replacement for cow’s milk allergy or sensitivity. Dairy allergy symptoms include a change in behavior when eating a certain food, gassiness, eczema, vomiting, and even diarrhea.
Sensitivity towards cow’s milk doesn’t always mean your child is lactose intolerant. Instead of developing sensitivities for lactose, babies with a sensitivity to cow’s milk are triggered by the proteins and the antibodies of the dairy. Depending on the level of susceptibility for cow’s milk, breastfeeding mothers can still consume dairy products in small portions. However, if your child is highly allergic, it’s best to eliminate all sources of dairy proteins and use a replacement allergy formula like Nutramigen.
Baby allergies are something you can’t ever take lightly. If your little one is extra sensitive to certain foods and other things in your household, try feeding them with replacement allergy or lactose-free formula. Start browsing right here on iPrice.
