Caterpillar holicism: Christ and the Common Destiny of Man
₱ 2,179.00
Galleon

With a Foreword by Joseph Cardinal Ratzinger/Pope Benedict XVI This book first appeared just over fifty years ago. It is the pilgrimatic work of one of the 20th century's greatest theologians. Deeply rooted in tradition, it breaks ground and sows seeds which will bear their fruit in the Second Vatican Council's central documents on the Church. Here, Henri de Lubac, one of the giants of 20th century theology, gathers from throughout the breadth and length of Catholic tradition elements which he synthesizes to show the essentially social and historical character of the Catholic Church and how this worldwide and agelong dimension of the Church is the only adequate matrix for the fulfillment of the person within society and the transcendence of the person towards God. This book is a classic that deserves to be read and reread by every educated Catholic. "For me, the encounter with this book became an essential milestone on my theological journey. For in it de Lubac does not treat merely isolated questions. He makes visible to us in a new way the fundamental intuition of Christian Faith so that from this inner core all the paricular elements appear in a new light." Joseph Cardinal Ratzinger/Pope Benedict XVI "Few of our living authors have given us a work at once so profound, so apt and so persuasive as this of the great French Jesuit. Certainly, few could have written the book on the basis of such a rich knowledge of the Christian tradition.... De Lubac's thought has the originality which springs from the contact with a great tradition of a brilliant, deep and charitable mind. And it has a contemporaneity that bears witness to a profound, all-embracing, human concern." -Dom Christopher Butler , Abbot of Downside "We cannot leave it without referring to its almost incredible comprehensiveness of view. De Lubac writes of the Church in such a way as to allow fully for the truth there is in Protestant or Liberal views of the Christian society." - Church Times

Star of Messiah: Revealing God's Plan for One New Man
₱ 1,465.00
Galleon

Do you ever wonder where this world is headed? Do you notice a rash of earthquakes and other strange natural events - unusual weather patterns, volcanoes that were quiet for 200 years suddenly coming back to life, and even meteor showers? Do you think God might just be trying to get our attention by shaking things up? These acts of God have a purpose - they are a wakeup call. God's original plan was to have very close fellowship with man, His prized creation. But, He gave man the right to choose, and Adam chose to disobey, and sin took its toll. God is not thwarted, however, only delayed a little in the time frame of eternity. God found a man of faith and called him Abraham, the father of many nations, and a patriarch of the Jewish people. Star of Messiah explores the messages God encoded in the two primary symbols of the Jewish faith: the menorah and the Star of David. He identified the Messiah, and He may have even identified the general time frame for the Messiah's appearance through the geometry of the Star of David. Whether you are Jewish, Christian, or undecided about God, Star of Messiah has a message for you. It will take you on a journey into the symbolism behind the Star of David and the Temple menorah, symbolism that has been in plain sight for centuries, yet unseen. God has a plan to regain that fellowship He lost when Adam sinned, and the natural disasters are just His way of suggesting that we might want to "get with the plan" because the clock is ticking. After reading Star of Messiah, you'll never see the Star of David or the Jewish Temple menorah quite the same way again. You're future can be wonderful and bright, but God leaves the choice up to you.

ge tting Life: An Innocent Man’s 25-Year Journey from Prison to Peace: A Memoir
₱ 1,142.00
Galleon

“A devastating and infuriating book, more astonishing than any legal thriller by John Grisham” ( The New York Times ) about a young father who spent twenty-five years in prison for a crime he did not commit…and his eventual exoneration and return to life as a free man. On August 13, 1986, just one day after his thirty-second birthday, Michael Morton went to work at his usual time. By the end of the day, his wife Christine had been savagely bludgeoned to death in the couple’s bed—and the Williamson County Sherriff’s office in Texas wasted no time in pinning her murder on Michael, despite an absolute lack of physical evidence. Michael was swiftly sentenced to life in prison for a crime he had not committed. He mourned his wife from a prison cell. He lost all contact with their son. Life, as he knew it, was over. Drawing on his recollections, court transcripts, and more than 1,000 pages of personal journals he wrote in prison, Michael recounts the hidden police reports about an unidentified van parked near his house that were never pursued; the bandana with the killer’s DNA on it, that was never introduced in court; the call from a neighboring county reporting the attempted use of his wife’s credit card, which was never followed up on; and ultimately, how he battled his way through the darkness to become a free man once again. “Even for readers who may feel practically jaded about stories of injustice in Texas—even those who followed this case closely in the press—could do themselves a favor by picking up Michael Morton’s new memoir…It is extremely well-written [and] insightful” ( The Austin Chronicle ). Getting Life is an extraordinary story of unfathomable tragedy, grave injustice, and the strength and courage it takes to find forgiveness.

gu yland: The Perilous World Where Boys Become Men
₱ 1,361.00
Galleon

One of the most eminent scholars and writers on men and masculinity and the author of the critically acclaimed Manhood in America turns his attention to the culture of guys, aged 16 to 26: their attitudes, their relationships, their rules, and their rituals. “Kimmel is our seasoned guide into a world that, unless we are guys, we barely know exists. As he walks with us through dark territories, he points out the significant and reflects on its meaning.”— Mary Pipher, Ph.D., author of Reviving Ophelia The passage from adolescence to adulthood was once clear. Today, growing up has become more complex and confusing, as young men drift casually through college and beyond—hanging out, partying, playing with tech toys, watching sports. But beneath the appearance of a simple extended boyhood, a more dangerous social world has developed, far away from the traditional signposts and cultural signals that once helped boys navigate their way to manhood—a territory Michael Kimmel has identified as "Guyland." In mapping the troubling social world where men are now made, Kimmel offers a view into the minds and times of America's sons, brothers, and boyfriends, and he works toward redefining what it means to be a man today—and tomorrow. Only by understanding this world and this life stage can we enable young men to chart their own paths, stay true to themselves, and emerge safely from Guyland as responsible and fully formed male adults.

seven Principles of Man (Classic Reprint)
₱ 952.00
Galleon

Excerpt from Seven Principles of Man Few words are needed in sending this little book out into the world. It is the first of a series of Manuals designed to meet the public demand for a simple exposition of Theosophical teachings. Some have complained that our literature is at once too abstruse, too technical, and too expensive for the ordinary reader, and it is our hope that the present series may succeed in supplying what is a very real want. Theosophy is not only for the learned; it is for all. It may be that among those who in these little books catch their first glimpse of its teachings, there may be a few who will be led by them to penetrate more deeply into its philosophy, its science, and its religion, facing its abstruser problems with the student's zeal and the neophyte's ardour. But these manuals are not written for the eager student, whom no initial difficulties can daunt; they are written for the busy men and women of the work-a-day world, and seek to make plain some of the great truths that render life easier to bear and death easier to face. Written by servants of the Masters who are the Elder Brothers of our race, they can have no other object than to serve our fellow-men. blu nt Force Magic (The Monsters and Men Trilogy) (Volume 1)
₱ 1,234.00
Galleon

"A modern fantasy with a touch of noir, a dash of detective thriller, and a sprinkling of humor throughout. A really fun debut novel." - Steve Jackson, New York Times bestselling author of MONSTER Janzen Robinson is a man torn between two worlds. Five years removed from a life as an apprentice to a group of do-gooding heroes who championed the fight against supernatural evils, the once-promising student is now a package courier going through the daily grind, passing time at a hole-in-the-wall bar and living in a tiny, run-down apartment on the south side of Cleveland, Ohio. Then fate (or a case of bad timing) brings him face to face with a door that's got his old life written all over it. From the ancient recesses of unyielding darkness known as the Abyss, a creature has been summoned: a Stalker, a predator whose real name is forbidden to be spoken aloud. It's a bastardization of the natural order, a formidable blend of dark magic and primal tenacity. Its single-minded mission? Ending the life of a fiery, emerging young witch. Thrust into the role of protector, a role once reserved for those he'd lost years ago, the out-of-practice "Artificer" not only has to return to a life he'd left behind, but must relive that painful past while facing down the greatest threat to come to our world in a century. Janzen will have to journey through the magical underbelly of the city and not only stay one step ahead of an unstoppable monster hellbent on destruction but try and figure out why it's been brought to our world in the first place. Past wounds are reopened as Janzen looks to old friends, a quiet stranger, and his own questionable wits to see them all to the other side of this nightmare that may cost him his life and, quite possibly, the world itself. About the author: Lawrence Davis is a decorated U.S. Army infantryman who served three combat tours overseas, including in Iraq. His first book, BLUNT FORCE MAGIC, was written in part to help navigate the struggles associated with Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome (personified by The Stalker in his novel). He's a shooting instructor and dog rescue advocate who lives in Florida with his four rescue pitbulls, and extremely patient girlfriend.

Man in the Moon
₱ 1,293.00
Galleon

Digitally remastered and expanded edition. The Broadway musical Man In The Moon was a collaboration between famed puppeteers Bil and Cora Baird and the award winning Broadway writing team of lyricist Sheldon Harnick and composer Jerry Bock. The production opened at New York's Biltmore Theatre on April 11th 1963 and ran for 22 performances. Two weeks later, Harnick and Bock's critically acclaimed musical She Loves Me opened on Broadway and although Man In The Moon would not achieve the same enduring legacy as She Loves Me, the charismatic children's musical still proved a critical success and contained five original and memorable songs by Harnick and Bock. Man In The Moon was conceived by Bil Baird and featured a book by Arthur Burns. The story centered around the young protagonist Jerry who is beamed to the moon to act as an "Earth Ambassador" and state a case in the defence of our planet to the 'Man in the Moon'. Jerry is unexpectedly accompanied on his journey by jewel thief Flicker and his gang of henchmen. The New York Times found the Man In The Moon to be like a "box of holiday bon-bons" and praised Bock and Harnick's "snappy score". The limited theatre run was preceded by an Original Cast Album on Golden Records featuring Bil and Cora Baird, Franz Fazakas, Frank Sullivan, Gerald Freedman and session singers Rose Marie Jun and Eric Carlson. The album featured the dialogue scenes interspersed with the original songs by Bock and Harnick. It is coupled here with the unreleased original demos for the show performed by composers Sheldon Harnick and Jerry Bock.
