In Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter (2012), Benjamin Walker stars as Abraham Lincoln, the 19th-century United States president, who is fictionally portrayed in the film as having a secret identity as a vampire hunter. After Lincoln's mother is killed by a supernatural creature, he makes it his life's mission to crush vampires and their slave-owning helpers. Dominic Cooper and Rufus Sewell co-star. Night Watch (2004) tells the story of the 'Others'; who, whilst living amongst normal humans, possess a range of supernatural powers. They are divided up into the forces of light and the forces of the dark, having signed a truce several centuries ago to end a devastating battle. Ever since, the forces of light govern the day while the night belongs to their dark opponents. In modern day Moscow the dark Others actually roam the night as vampires, whilst a 'Night Watch' of light forces, among them Anton (Konstantin Khabensky), tries to control them and limit their outrage. Finally, in the sequel Day Watch (2006), over a year has passed since the denouement of the original film. Anton (Khabensky) continues to fight the forces of Darkness while simultaneously attempting to find and save his son (Dmitry Martinov), who has become a great Dark Other, from those same forces. But when Dark Others start mysteriously being murdered and Anton is framed for the killings, he must put his goal on hold and try to escape the Day Watch who are out looking for his blood. Read more

Please note this is a region 2 DVD and will require a region 2 or region free DVD player in order to play. In THE Pacifier Vin Diesel is great as a navy seal turned babysitter in this kid-friendly action comedy. A botched rescue mission (brimming with stunts) results in the death of a scientist and the hospitalization of seal team-leader Shane Wolf. Once he recovers, he is assigned to duty as a bodyguard for the dead man's family. But even for a seal--toughened to the point of stoniness--dealing with the chaos, smells, noises, and complexities of a large, fatherless family proves to be a heavy challenge. The kids don't like his authoritative ways and they have no problem defying him at every turn. Eventually everybody bonds and while the family teaches him to listen and relax, he teaches them the combat skills they need to succeed in suburban Los Angeles. It's all very funny but the film really works best as a showcase for the range of Diesel; he takes his pratfalls in stride, his character's devotion to military discipline and honour is inspiring; and his bonding with the family is sweet without being saccharine. What's more, he still gets the chance to kick some serious bad-guy butt. Lauren Graham (Bad Santa) plays the kindly grade school principal and love interest. Everybody Loves RAYMOND's Brad Garrett is hilarious as a sadistic wrestling coach. There's also a crotch-biting pet duck, ninjas, sewer-diving, a troop of kung fu-fighting girl scouts, and the hilarious 'panda dance'. Read more

Half Past Dead Despite critical roasting and a blink and you missed it theatrical release, Half Past Dead is surprisingly not half bad. Once you recognise the film's recent action flick heritage (The Rock being the most obvious of a dozen pilfered plot lines), you can kick back and enjoy the unexpected perks that arise when a deep-cover FBI sleuth (Steven Seagal) accompanies a convicted crook (rapper Ja Rule) into "New Alcatraz" prison. A death row killer (Bruce Weitz) sits on a $200 million goldmine, keeping his secret as a bargaining chip when criminal commandos (led by the ever cool Morris Chestnut) drop in for a lethally greedy raid. After cutting his teeth on trashy, short-lived TV series, director Don Michael Paul can't do much to help an ageing Seagal, but he's got lively allies in Ja Rule and Nia Peeples (forget Lara Croft, this girl rocks), and even legendary action-TV producer Stephen J. Cannell drops in for a cameo. Derivative from the word go, but fun just the same. --Jeff Shannon, Amazon Half Past Dead 2 Former WWE & WCW World Champion Bill Goldberg and hip hop group Tha Dog Pound's Ricardo 'Kurupt' Brown push life to the limit in this explosive sequel to the 2002 hit movie Half Past Dead.
