Sump Pumps

Sump pumps are automatic pumps that are specially designed to pump clean water. They are used to remove water that collects in basics from around a home’s foundation to prevent residential flooding.

Sewage Pumps

Sewage pumps are designed to pump liquids and semi-solids in a basement from a sewage basin up to the main sewage line to be removed. Sewage pumps are typically used when the water being pumped may contain solids up to 2” in diameter. The higher the lift or longer the distance needed for the waste to be pumped away, the more powerful the pump needs to be. As they are used to pump water containing solids, they can typically be found in toilets, pumping waste into the sewer line or septic system.

Effluent Pumps

Like sewage pumps, effluent pumps are used to transport water that contains solids; the difference is that these pumps are used when the solids may measure up to 3 or 4 inches in diameter. Hence, effluent pumps are mostly used in mound-type septic systems, elevated septic systems, drain fields, laundry discharge, and sump or water pump removal.

Typical uses of utility pumps include emptying clogged sinks, draining water beds or aquariums, pumping out furnace pits and window wells, and pumping water off a floor.

Jet Pumps

Jet pumps are usually fixed above the ground to pull water from a well or other water sources to be used in a home water or sprinkler system. Shallow well jet pumps can pull water from a maximum depth of 25’ whereas deep well (also known as convertible) jet pumps can pull water from as deep as 100’.

4” Submersible Well Pumps

These pumps bring water from a buried well into a house for general household water supply, especially when city water is not used. These pumps are usually used together with standard or pre-charged pressure tank.
