MANGO’s fashion framework
Istanbul-born Isak Andic and his brother, Nahman Andic, founded MANGO back in 1972. It all began with Isak started selling hand-embroidered t-shirts that were made in Turkey in Barcelona, Spain. In 1984, he joined forces with Enric Cusi and his brother to set up the first MANGO shop. It’s been said that Mr. Isak chose the name MANGO after he tasted the fruit during a trip to the Philippines and because the word is pronounced the same way in every language.
The business proposition was to carry urban womenswear that mirrored the latest in fashion. The Spanish fashion brand quickly grew from its small team thanks to the philosophy that’s all about creativity. Their much talked about “just-in-time” production system helped shape the brand’s store design, quality standards, price, product concepts and brand image. This concrete approach is one of the reasons why MANGO is a fashion leader in Spain.
In terms of online presence, MANGO had its first website back in 1995 and opened its inaugural online store in 2000. The brand has since branched out to include clothing for children and a menswear line known as H.E. (Homini Emerito) by Mango. This line was created in 2008 to give fashion-conscious young men everywhere an adaptable range to match trends and everyday city style. H.E. by Mango has a total of 112 stores across the globe including Philippines, Madrid and Barcelona.
MANGO is also said to have limited edition collections churned out each season by notable fashion designers. This list of designers include Zuhair Murad and Adam Lippes so far. Presently, MANGO has a total of 2, 400 stores in 107 countries around the world. The rest as they say, is history.
The new dynamic duo of Mango
The Spanish fast fashion retailer has chosen and my, have they chosen well. British models Cara Delevingne and Kate Moss are the new faces of MANGO’s fall campaign. The print advertisements and TV spots will be shot by Inez and Vinoodh with the concept #somethingincommon. This is referring to both models careers as models, designers, muses and entertainers. The MANGO ads will be out in September 2015. Prior to this, Kate Moss was the face of the brand back in 2011 and 2012. The brand’s repertoire of previous features include big names like Miranda Kerr, Anja Rubik, Daria Werbowy and Anna Ewers.

Known for its dresses, jeans, tops and vests among the ladies, MANGO has its fair share of celebrity followers.
