We have all heard the rumors about the new Samsung S9 and S9+ release dates but the South Korean tech giant is not the only one holding the cards. Sony, LG, Huawei and other phone brands are also laying down their aces on the upcoming Mobile World Congress 2018 in Barcelona, Spain this February 28. Besides the Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+, here are top 5 phones that will be announced in the event:

Following suit from last year’s MWC 2017, it is likely that we will see this phone unveiled in the same event this year. There have been tons of speculation about the Sony Xperia XZ Premium 2 including a flagship Snapdragon 845 chipset, 6GB of RAM, dual-lens rear and front camera and stereo speakers. In addition to that, the Sony flagship is rumored to have a 3,420mAh battery and a 5.7-inch 4K display and smaller bezels. Some are even saying that the fingerprint scanner will be built into the screen.
Besides the Sony Xperia XZ Premium 2, there are also other smartphones under Sony to be announced in MWC 2018. The Sony Xperia XZ2 and Sony Xperia XZ2 Compact are also said to be unveiled as well as the Sony Xperia XZ2 Pro.

Nokia has seen some ups and downs since buttons on phones became outdated but we may see the this Finnish company’s real flagship at MWC 2018. As awesome as Nokia 8 was, its predecessor was completely buried by its competitors last year.
There have been a lot of rumors concerning the Nokia 9 specs. Among of these include a 5.5-inch QHD OLED screen, dual-lens cameras, small bezels, and a waterproof metal body. It would also be a powerful phone featuring a Snapdragon 845 chipset, 4GB to 8GB of RAM, and 3,800mAh of battery.
It is unclear if Nokia 9 will make an appearance in MWC 2018 but HMD Global (Nokia) is “super busy” preparing for the event, so something ought to come out real soon.

The Taiwanese company tweeted a “save the date” post with a photo of a swirling “5”. So far, ASUS has kept a tight lid around the specs of their new phone but we know from sources that this new flagship is going to be part of a new “5” series.

Samsung will release a smörgåsbord of gadgets and are gearing up to announce their new flagship. Besides the Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+, we are also expecting the Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 to be announced along with their new smartphone flagship.
Rumors circulating on the web have placed the Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 to be an “iPad killer”. It is said to feature a 2.3GHz Octa-core chipset, 4GB of RAM, and 10.5-inch 1600x2560 screen. On the same event last year, Samsung announced its predecessor - the Samsung Galaxy Tab S4, at MWC 2017 so we are hoping to see it in Barcelona this year.
Huawei Watch 3

Like Sony, Huawei also unveiled the Huawei Watch 2 on last year’s MWC and we are expecting them to follow suit.
The features that are circulating about the Huawei Watch 3 looks like it came out of a sci-fi movie. The smartwatch is the first of its kind to detect gestures you make on the back of your hand. For example, you could sketch a shape in thin air and it would appear on your watch screen. You can also use tapping gestures to navigate through the smartwatch without actually touching the screen.
Apart from that, the announcement of the new Huawei P20 has also been rumored but it has apparently been pushed back after the MWC.
While we are all excited to see new devices on the upcoming MWC, there are also devices that won’t be making an appearance this year. Among the no-shows this year include LG which has confirmed that they scraped the new LG G7 design and the HTC U12 which will be announced on a separate event this coming March or April.
