Universe Laser Say Hello For Me (VCD) (English Subtitled) (Hong Kong Version)
₱ 399.00

The latest entry into the pure love genre, Say Hello For Me (a.k.a. Sono Toki wa Kare ni Yoroshiku) easily wins over audiences with the photogenic casting of popular stars Nagasawa Masami, Yamada Takayuki, and Tsukamoto Takashi. All three actors have earned their badges when it comes to romantic tearjerkers, with Nagasawa Masami previously starring in Nada Sou Sou, Tsukamoto Takashi in Song to the Sun, and Yamada Takayuki in Train Man. Also plenty experienced is first-time film director Hirakawa Yuichiro, whose television resume includes Sailor Suit and Machine Gun and Crying out Love, in the Center of the World, which starred Nagasawa and Yamada, respectively. Based on a novel by Ichikawa Takuji, Say Hello For Me is a quintessential pure love film, with a moving storyline and subtle performances from the leads and supporting cast. Director Hirakawa wisely builds the film around its greatest assets - Nagasawa's natural acting and beautiful smile and Yamada's awkward, yet endearing film personae - creating a touching romance that should please fans of the genre. Quiet, earnest, and a bit nerdy, Toyama Satoshi (Yamada Takayuki) runs a marine plants store where he can indulge in his love for aquatic vegetation. Though he barely makes enough money, Satoshi is determined to hold on to the store as it fulfills a promise he made to his two best friends years ago. One day, a beautiful young model (Nagasawa Masami) shows up at his steps asking for a job. As clueless as ever, it takes some time before Satoshi realizes that she is actually his childhood friend and first crush Karin. Though he doesn't understand what has brought Karin to him so suddenly after thirteen years, Satoshi is glad to have her back in his life. Their happiness is short-lived though as they soon receive sobering news about their friend Yuji (Tsukamoto Takashi).

Universe Laser The Storm Warriors (VCD) (Hong Kong Version)
₱ 774.00
YesAsia
Based on Ma Wing Shing's best-selling comic, blockbuster action fantasy The Storm Riders opened a new page in Hong Kong Cinema when it was released in 1998. Boasting the best special effects ever seen in a Hong Kong film at the time, the big-budget all-star production broke box office records with its fusion of comic book adventure, wuxia mythology, wirework action, and pure cinematic spectacle. A decade later, The Storm Riders returns with the highly anticipated sequel, The Storm Warriors, directed by the Pang Brothers! Ekin Cheng and Aaron Kwok reprise their iconic roles as eponymous heroes Wind and Cloud, this time taking on Simon Yam and Nicholas Tse as the villains. Kenny Ho makes a rare movie appearance as Nameless, the top swordsman of the land, while Charlene Choi and Mainland Chinese actress Tang Yan (Chinese Paladin III) play the romantic interests. Other supporting cast members include Lam Suet, Patrick Tam, and Wong Tak Bun. Just as the first film did ten years ago, Storm Warriors sets the new bar in Hong Kong Cinema with incredible special effects that bring the fantastical action, adventure, and comic book aesthetic to the silver screen like never before. Lord Godless (Simon Yam) and his son Heart (Nicholas Tse) are out to take over the martial arts world and the Middle Kingdom. Even Nameless (Kenny Ho), Wind (Ekin Cheng), and Cloud (Aaron Kwok) combined cannot defeat Godless and his impenetrable body armor. Injured from battle, they seek the help of reclusive master Lord Wicked (Wong Tak Bun), who guides Wind into harnessing the powers of the dark side. Godless, meanwhile, is forcing the Emperor (Patrick Tam) to reveal the location of the powerful "Dragon Bone" relic. Unable to control his newfound powers, Wind loses himself to the dark side, and sets out to destroy Godless... and Cloud.

Donnie Yen, director Wilson Yip, and producer Raymond Wong teamed up in 2008 for an action-packed biopic on Wing Chun grandmaster Ip Man, who is best known as Bruce Lee's teacher. The first Ip Man film follows the life of the titular character (played by Donnie Yen) in his hometown of Foshan, where he's challenged for martial arts supremacy by Jin (Fan Siu Wong), a martial arts master from out of town, and a Japanese general (Ikeuchi Hiroyuki) during wartime. Featuring action choreography by Sammo Hung, the first Ip Man took the Chinese film industry by storm, becoming a surprise box office hit and creating a new Chinese action hero. Ip Man 2 arrived in Chinese cinemas 17 months after the success of the first film. Featuring the same creative team, Ip Man 2 transports the franchise from Foshan to colonial era Hong Kong, as the grandmaster attempts for a new start there with his family. Sammo Hung also joins the cast this time as a martial arts grandmaster that Ip Man fights to gain acceptance amongst the Hong Kong martial art masters. With a stirring story and impressive fight scenes that even surpass the first film, Ip Man 2 packed theaters throughout Asia, quickly becoming one of the highest-grossing Asian films of 2010. All hell breaks loose when a cold-blooded warlord arrives in a small village in the period action thriller Call of Heroes starring Sean Lau Ching Wan, Louis Koo, Eddie Peng and Wu Jing. Set in the early 20th century when China was rife with turmoil and civil warfare, the action-packed blockbuster follows the deadly events that unfold when a militia captain tries to bring a murderous warlord to justice. Directed by Benny Chan (The White Storm), Call of Heroes builds on the vicious tension with blistering action choreographed by Sammo Hung. One morning, Cao's son Cao Shaolun (Louis Koo) saunters into Pucheng and kills a few villagers. Yang captures Shaolun with plans to execute him after trial, but Zhang (Wu Jing), a colonel in Cao's army, soon storms into Pucheng to retrieve the prisoner. Universe Laser Ip Man: The Final Fight (2013) (VCD) (Hong Kong Version)
₱ 349.00

In 2010, producer Checkley Sin and director Herman Yau explored Ip Man the righteous, patriotic Wing Chun grandmaster in The Legend is Born Ip Man. Three years later, the team shows us a more human side of Master Ip with Ip Man: The Final Fight. People know Ip Man as the Wing Chun grandmaster that defeated Japanese soldiers, racist boxers and Zhang Ziyi on the big screen. However, The Final Fight depicts a later stage of Master Ip's life as a humble Wing Chun teacher in 1950s and 1960s Hong Kong. Based on anecdotes about Master Ip's life directly from his son Ip Chun, the action drama shows the master as a normal man who simply wanted to pass on the art of Wing Chun to his students, even as labor unrest, corruption and crime swept the rapidly developing city. At the same time, he is also a respected figure who would not hesitate to go into action to protect his students. In this latest take on the martial arts legend, award-winning actor Anthony Wong takes up the role of Master Ip in a dignified and commanding performance. One of the best actors in Hong Kong, Wong not only learned Wing Chun especially for the role, he also became the only actor to adapt Ip's real-life Foshan accent. Joining Wong is a strong supporting cast that includes Jordan Chan (Young and Dangerous), Anita Yuen (Prot g ), Zhou Chu Chu (Dream Home), Gillian Chung (Twins Effect), Timmy Hung, Jiang Luxia, Xiong Xin Xin (Once Upon a Time in China) and Eric Tsang. In 1949, 56-year-old Ip Man (Anthony Wong) leaves Foshan in search of a new life in Hong Kong. After an impromptu sparring match, Ip takes up his first disciple, Leung Seung (Timmy Hung). With Seung's help, Ip establishes a makeshift Wing Chun school on an apartment building's rooftop. Eventually, Ip attracts a group of loyal students from all walks of life, including a policeman, a factory laborer, a tram driver and others. As his students face troubles inside and outside of the school over the years, Master Ip remains a strong, unwavering moral figure in their lives.

Joined by other cast members from Hong Kong, China, Malaysia, Thailand and the US, the team braved real fires at dangerous temperatures on the set as demanded by the directors. Playing brothers for the first time in their 12th collaboration, Lau Ching Wan and Louis Koo star as two estranged firefighters whose paths converge again in a time of disaster. Catastrophe strikes at Keung's (Louis Koo) company party and sends everyone running for their lives in a frantic panic. Trapped in a flaming office building, former firefighter Keung leads the crowd including his sister-in-law See Lok (Angelica Lee) upstairs to wait for rescue. Universe Laser Get Outta Here (2015) (Blu-ray) (Hong Kong Version)

The Hong Kong vampire genre receives a fun twist in director Nick Leung's action-comedy Get Outta Here, which features Alex Lam (Lan Kwai Fong 3) following in the footsteps of his father, Hong Kong superstar George Lam. The elder Lam played a western vampire in the classic 1990 comedy A Bite of Love, and Alex Lam does the same here as Joe, a dapper western vampire who awakens after a century-long slumber in Kowloon. Joe initially has nowhere to go, but he ends up taking a shine to overly-emotional Hong Kong girl Apple (singer J. Arie), and moves into her flat along with her grandmother (Anna Ng) and their British boarder (Gregory Charles Rivers). Lucky for everyone involved, Joe doesn't like to drink human blood, and he forms a bond with his new flatmates. However, other vampires do lurk in Hong Kong, and they soon side with the greedy land developers angling for Apple's flat. Can Joe protect his new friends from these threats? Get Outta Here offers plenty of topical Hong Kong commentary to go along with its stylish direction and offbeat sense of humor, which involves gags riffing on Hong Kong-style vampires (the slow, hopping types) and a vampire chicken played by "Puppy the Hen". With style, wit and a dash of smarts, Get Outta Here qualifies as one of 2015's more surprising Hong Kong films.

Universe Laser The Detective 1+2 Blu-ray Boxset (Hong Kong Version)
₱ 2,199.00
YesAsia
The boxset contains both The Detective and The Detective 2 on Blu-ray. The Detective Aaron Kwok continues his streak of winning performances with Oxide Pang's The Detective. Set in Thailand, Kwok's latest outing is an immensely entertaining suspense thriller bearing the unmistakable Pang Bros. signature. Bolstered by atmospheric set design and commanding music, the film spins plentiful jumps and scares from an unsettling narrative that keeps the audience at the edge of their seats. Fresh off consecutive Best Actor wins at the Golden Horse Awards for Divergence and After This Our Exile, Kwok is perfectly charismatic and at ease as a laid-back Thai-Chinese detective pulled into a mysterious murder case. Kwok is supported by talented character actors Liu Kai Chi (Infernal Affairs 2), Kenny Wong (Gong Tau), Wayne Lai, Kiki Sheung, and Jo Koo, as well as long-time-no-see faces like Shing Fui On and former pop starlet Elle Choi. Holding shop from a small dinky office, near-sighted, debt-ridden private detective Tam (Aaron Kwok) talks big, but does small business. He gets an interesting new job when hard-drinking friend Lung (Shing Fui Oi) shows up one day with the picture of a woman whom he claims is trying to kill him. Unable to locate the woman, Tam starts looking up her acquaintances, but he seems to always be in the wrong place at the right time. At his first stop, he walks into a man hanging from the ceiling, the first of many dead bodies he stumbles upon. Tam becomes increasingly obsessed with finding the truth behind the mysterious deaths, but digging too deep could have dangerous consequences. The Detective 2 Four years after unwittingly cracking his first case, Aaron Kwok's inept private eye is back in action with an improved grade in the highly anticipated The Detective 2! Director Oxide Pang's stylish 2007 mystery was considered one of the best solo efforts from the Pang Brothers, and this time he returns to Bangkok with stars Aaron Kwok and Liu Kai Chi for an even more suspenseful adventure. Although the Asian horror-meister has surprisingly dispensed with the supernatural element of the first film, he isn't about to let up on the chill factor. The psychological crime thriller sequel has caught a group of new suspects for the supporting cast, including Patrick Tam, Eddie Cheung, Izz Xu (Child's Eye), and Mainland actress Gong Beibi. Bumbling private detective Chan Tam (Aaron Kwok) is enlisted by police pal Fung Chak (Liu Kai Chi) to help in the investigation of a serial murder case. The victims - a middle-aged man killed at home, a dead woman found in the trash dump, and a teenage girl slain in the park - were all killed in grisly manners, but they didn't seem related to each other. Without any clue to follow up on, Tam is decidedly at his wits' end. But when Chak is seriously wounded by a mysterious assailant, Tam deduces that the only way

WaT's Koike Teppei (Lovely Complex) and Nodame Cantabile's Tamaki Hiroshi star in the highly anticipated new film Kids. After successfully adapting the main story from renowned writer Otsuichi's best-selling light novel series Kimi ni Shika Kikoenai to film in early 2007, director Hagishima Tatsuya brings the novel's second story Kids to the big screen with an even more photogenic cast and heartrending narrative. From Kimi ni Shika Kikoenai to Waiting in the Dark, Otsuichi's works are known for their acute depictions of pain and loneliness, and Kids again hits the heart with the story of three friends walking a long and lonely road of suffering and healing. Other than the fan service pairing of Koike Teppei and Tamaki Hiroshi, Kids also co-stars popular actress Kuriyama Chiaki (Kill Bill). On the outside, tough scrap yard worker Takeo (Tamaki Hiroshi) seems to have nothing in common with the innocent, almost childlike Asato (Koike Teppei), but both are lonely souls bearing dark pasts. Crossing paths by chance, Takeo, Asato, and shy diner waitress Shiho (Kuriyama Chiaki) strike up an unlikely friendship, making life in their dead-end hometown a bit more bearable. Asato was born with special powers that prove to be both his blessing and his curse: he has the ability to transfer other people's wounds to his own body. He can't help but try to heal those around him, including Takeo and Shiho, but his powers come at a painful cost. Asato's powers tore apart his family years ago and continue to tear at him in the present. With Asato determined to hurt himself to help others, Takeo may be the only one who can save his friend.

In director Kunimoto Masahiro's Fireworks from the Heart, fireworks mean more than just pretty symbols burning away in the sky. For the attendees of the Katakai Festival, each burst represents someone's memory, someone's hope, or even someone's love. Tanimura Mitsuki (Box!) star as Hana, a high school girl who returns home from a long hospital stay to find that her gentle older brother Taro (Kora Kengo, Norwegian Wood) has become a hikikomori who shuts himself off from the world. To get Taro out of his room, Hana gets him to work and participate in the world-famous Katakai Festival, known for its spectacular fireworks. When Hana's leukemia returns, Taro finds the motivation to work even harder at the festival and set off the beautiful fireworks in his sister's name. Based on a 2006 documentary about post-earthquake Niigata, Fireworks from the Heart is a touching story about treasuring your family before it's too late.

Universe Laser Sky Fighters (Hong Kong Version)

Directed by Gerard Pires, Sky Fighters, a.k.a. Les Chevaliers Du Ciel, is a thumpingly entertaining film about bravery, brotherhood, and really fast planes. Set in a high-flying, high-octane world where men are men, women are beautiful, and the sky is for the taking, Sky Fighters could very well be the French answer to Top Gun. True to the film's spirit, all the flight sequences are actually shot with real planes and aerial photography, without any CG tinkering. The story, based on Jean-Michel Charlier's comic book, is action-filled and popcorn fun, and the cast is nothing less than top-caliber with Benoite Magimel (La Pianiste), Clovis Cornillac (The Story of My Life), Geraldine Pailhas (5X2), Philippe Torreton (Felix et Lola), and Alice Taglioni (The Valet). When a French Mirage 2000 goes missing from a UK airplane exhibition, French Air Force pilots Antoine "Walk'n" Marchelli (Benoit Magimel) and Sebastien "Fahrenheit" Vallois (Clovis Cornillac) are tasked to recover the plane. With Vallois and Marchelli in hot pursuit, the Mirage's renegade pilot attacks back, and Marchelli brings down the plane in a fiery blast. The incident is blamed on Marchelli after a suspicious cover-up from above, and the friends are forced to leave the force. With their names on every commercial flyer's blacklist, the two unemployed pilots have difficulties finding jobs - until they get recruited into a special mission team to fly across hostile territory to land a contract. Their mission seems simple enough, but they soon find themselves caught in a deeper network of espionage and terrorism.

It's the second hit from the Pang Brothers! When Oxide Pang's Abnormal Beauty was released in the cinemas, twin brother Danny Pang's black comedy Leave Me Alone was also released. Both are Thai productions, with many thrilling action sequences, from a mass brawl, to a car chase on a freeway, to explosions...it's all here! Man and Kit (both played by Ekin Cheng) are identical twins who were separated at the age of 8 when their parents divorced. Man, the younger twin, stayed with his mother in Hong Kong while Kit moved to Thailand with his father. From then on they lived their own lives, never once telling others of the existence of the other twin. When they are in their twenties, Kit returns to Hong Kong to visit Man, and they immediately become close brothers, telling each other of their lives. Suddenly, Kit wants to borrow Man's car, but because he has no Hong Kong license Man lends his own license to his brother. They thought it would be fun to swap identities, but what they didn't expect was that they couldn't switch back! Ekin tackles the challenge of playing a pair of twins with completely different personalities: a tough, straight older brother and a gentle, gay younger brother. This comedy of mistaken identities is convincingly held together by Ekin's performance and scene-stealing cameos from Jan Lam, who plays Ekin's ex-boyfriend, and Dayo Wong Chi Wah as the boss of the triads! Leave Me Alone is chosen to participate in the Tokyo Film Festival in 2004 as part of the Winds of Asia competition.

Infernal Affairs co-maestro Andrew Lau directs The Park, a chilling horror film with rising young idols and some cool 3-D sequences! Yen (BoBo Chan) and her pals decide to sneak into the abandoned Fantasy Park amusement park after Yen's brother (Edwin Siu) goes missing while exploring the park. Unfortunately, the park is rumored to be cursed, and is the location for many scary stories AND some truly frightening fixtures, including a disfigured caretaker, a forgotten graveyard buried beneath the park, and scary-looking clowns hung in effigy. Once the rides start to turn on and the kids begin to go missing, Yen becomes even more determined to find her brother ?which leads her to the park's haunted house, a creepy abandoned building rendered in old-school green-and-red 3-D technology. Tiffany Lee co-stars as Yen's pal YY, and Shaw Brothers favorite Wai Ying Hung makes an appearance as Yen's mother, a Taoist exorcist who may hold the key to finding Yen's brother. Both the DVD and VCD for The Park include a pair of 3-D glasses to help you follow the 3-D action.

Patrick Kong's (Natural Born Lovers, Marriage With A Liar) latest comedy The Best Plan Is No Plan is high on Hong Kong-style humor and hijinks. Starring Hanjin Tan (I Love Hong Kong 2012), Justin Cheung (Due West: Our Sex Journey) and Sammy Shum (Lan Kwai Fong 2), the romantic comedy details three different men's approach to love one can't get past a casual affair, one is unable to recover from his last breakup and one is his girlfriend's yes-man. Filled with laugh-out-loud moments and nonsensical jokes, the film is Kong's second outing in less than two months following the romantic melodrama A Secret Between Us. Chan Wing Sing (Justin Cheung), Yip Lai Shin (Hanjin Chan) and Ma Wei Hung (Sammy Shum) are three friends who find out at their ex-girlfriend's funeral that they were all involved with the same woman at some point in their lives. One cup of Cocktail may be enough for one to tell the whole of his story! New movie Cocktail stars rising Hong Kong singers Candy Lo, Endy Chow, Race Wong (of 2R), Bobo Chan, etc. Lawrence Cheng, an all-rounder in the entertainment industry, and Eric Kot of former Soft Hard Kids, each take up a role. Cocktail, as the movie title suggests, evolves around a pub where people fall in love and break up with one another. It interweaves six love stories to explore the mixed tastes of people's bittersweet lives, just like cocktail mixing different liquors. Director Herman Yau has made over 70 movies in Hong Kong (such as Master Q 2001, The Untold Story), and in this refreshing title he offers a collage of episodes from urban youngsters' experiences. Paul (Endy Chow) wants to know more about his alcoholic father (Lawrence Cheng) only after he has passed away. Having hated alcohol for almost twenty years, he surprisingly applies for a bartender job at Candy's pub, for drinking now seems the only way for Paul to connect with his late dad. Pub owner Candy (Candy Lo) is born to a rich family. She resorts to drinking when her father forbids her romance with her cousin (Eric Kot), and decides to run a pub so that she can turn her habit to a business. Paul soon has a crush on a customer, without knowing that his colleague Stella (Race Wong@2R) is deeply in love with him...

A romance comedy starring Eric Kot from Softhard Kids and singer Candy Lo, Feel It... Say It tells a story in which love is only felt but not said. Eric Kot plays a medical doctor specialized in curing sexually transmitted diseases, and Candy Lo is a nurse in his small clinic in the suburb. As doctor and nurse the two professionals can openly discuss even topics that normal people find embarrassed to talk about, but after work they are just as bad as any others in communicating their true feelings to each other. Feel It... Say It wittily articulates the characters' hesitation in confessing their love, or the loss of it, to each other and explores contemporary romantic relationships in the most humorous way. Dr. Heung (Eric Kot) runs a very successful clinic in Hong Kong's suburb. His girlfriend, a new actress Fifi (Tiffany Lee, from Kungfu Mahjong 2), meets a handsome masseur named Bing (Anson Leung, from One Nite in Mongkok) when having foot massage with her colleagues. Fifi falls in love with Bing at first sight, but Bing's girlfriend is actually Dr. Heung's nurse! While Fifi and Bing find it difficult to tell their respective lovers the truth, Dr. Heung and his nurse are attracted to each other but do not know how to handle this complicated relationship...
