Universe Laser Fairy Tale Killer (2012) (Blu-ray) (Hong Kong Version)
₱ 1,195.00
Children's stories and horrifying murders go hand in hand in Danny Pang's Fairy Tale Killer. The latest solo project from one of the creators behind Hong Kong horror hit The Eye ditches the supernatural angle but retains the scares and suspense in a gruesome crime thriller about a serial killer that finds inspiration in classic fables. Two acclaimed actors join the filmmaker's cause: Lau Ching Wan (Life Without Principle) stars as the troubled cop on the case, while the usually meek Wang Baoqiang (Mr. Tree) becomes the deranged killer responsible for the bizarre and bloody deaths. The supporting cast includes singer/actress Elanne Kwong (Love Lifting), who flexes her acting muscles again playing an autistic artist, as well as Lam Suet, Elena Kong, and Joey Meng.

At the precinct where Inspector Wong (Lau Ching Wan) is stationed, a man with a serious stutter named Ng (Wang Baoqiang) turns himself in, claiming he has committed murder. The "victim", however, turns out very much alive, so the cops have to let this apparently mentally disturbed man go. But after a couple of days that victim really ends up dead, and soon other bodies begin to turn up one by one, all killed in different but equally grisly manners. Without any clue, Wong struggles to lead the investigation into these strange murders. What they manage to find in the apartment of Ng, the prime suspect, is nothing but a pile of books of fairy tales...

Universe Laser Ip Man Trilogy (Blu-ray) (Hong Kong Version)
₱ 2,441.00
Donnie Yen, director Wilson Yip, and producer Raymond Wong teamed up in 2008 for an action-packed biopic on Wing Chun grandmaster Ip Man, who is best known as Bruce Lee's teacher. The first Ip Man film follows the life of the titular character (played by Donnie Yen) in his hometown of Foshan, where he's challenged for martial arts supremacy by Jin (Fan Siu Wong), a martial arts master from out of town, and a Japanese general (Ikeuchi Hiroyuki) during wartime. Featuring action choreography by Sammo Hung, the first Ip Man took the Chinese film industry by storm, becoming a surprise box office hit and creating a new Chinese action hero.

Ip Man 2 arrived in Chinese cinemas 17 months after the success of the first film. Featuring the same creative team, Ip Man 2 transports the franchise from Foshan to colonial era Hong Kong, as the grandmaster attempts for a new start there with his family. Sammo Hung also joins the cast this time as a martial arts grandmaster that Ip Man fights to gain acceptance amongst the Hong Kong martial art masters. With a stirring story and impressive fight scenes that even surpass the first film, Ip Man 2 packed theaters throughout Asia, quickly becoming one of the highest-grossing Asian films of 2010.

Ip Man returned in 2015 with a third installment set in 1959 Hong Kong. Featuring action direction by Yuen Woo Ping, Ip Man 3 brings in a new set of pressing conflicts and sparring opponents for the Wing Chun grandmaster to take on, including a mob boss played by Mike Tyson and another martial arts master, played by The Grandmaster's Max Zhang, who is looking to transplant him as the true practitioner of Wing Chun.

For every wrong answer, one student dies.

As the countdown for college entrance exams begin, Chang Ahn High School organizes a special exam cram class for the top 20 students including girl-next-door Lee Na (Nam Gyu Ri) and classroom big shot Hyun Kang (Kim Bum). Taught by Hwang Chang Wook (Lee Bum Soo) and three other teachers, the class is festering with high-strung overachieving teens, some of whom are struggling with serious mental illnesses. In the middle of class, the television suddenly turns on. The students are shocked to see their classmate Hye Young drowning in a water tank onscreen. A voice asks them a sample exam question. Answer correctly, and the classmate lives. Answer incorrectly and...

Summer was once the prime time for horror films in Korea, but Korean Cinema went horror-free in the summer of 2008 save for one film: Death Bell (a.k.a. Gosa). Proving that quality trumps quantity, Death Bell attracted over a million moviegoer to theaters and has become one of Korea's highest-grossing horror films ever. The feature debut of music video director Chang, the high school horror focuses on an already dreadful experience that students in Korea are all too familiar with - exams are hell - and takes it to a bloody, terrifying extreme. Acclaimed actor Lee Bum Soo leads a fresh cast that includes singer Nam Gyu Ri of SeeYa in her acting debut, up-and-coming actor Kim Bum (Hellcats), and TV actress Yoon Jung Hee (Love in Heaven).

The Detective

Aaron Kwok continues his streak of winning performances with Oxide Pang's The Detective. Set in Thailand, Kwok's latest outing is an immensely entertaining suspense thriller bearing the unmistakable Pang Bros. signature. Bolstered by atmospheric set design and commanding music, the film spins plentiful jumps and scares from an unsettling narrative that keeps the audience at the edge of their seats. Fresh off consecutive Best Actor wins at the Golden Horse Awards for Divergence and After This Our Exile, Kwok is perfectly charismatic and at ease as a laid-back Thai-Chinese detective pulled into a mysterious murder case. Kwok is supported by talented character actors Liu Kai Chi (Infernal Affairs 2), Kenny Wong (Gong Tau), Wayne Lai, Kiki Sheung, and Jo Koo, as well as long-time-no-see faces like Shing Fui On and former pop starlet Elle Choi.

Holding shop from a small dinky office, near-sighted, debt-ridden private detective Tam (Aaron Kwok) talks big, but does small business. He gets an interesting new job when hard-drinking friend Lung (Shing Fui Oi) shows up one day with the picture of a woman whom he claims is trying to kill him. Unable to locate the woman, Tam starts looking up her acquaintances, but he seems to always be in the wrong place at the right time. At his first stop, he walks into a man hanging from the ceiling, the first of many dead bodies he stumbles upon. Tam becomes increasingly obsessed with finding the truth behind the mysterious deaths, but digging too deep could have dangerous consequences.

The Detective 2

Four years after unwittingly cracking his first case, Aaron Kwok's inept private eye is back in action with an improved grade in the highly anticipated The Detective 2! Director Oxide Pang's stylish 2007 mystery was considered one of the best solo efforts from the Pang Brothers, and this time he returns to Bangkok with stars Aaron Kwok and Liu Kai Chi for an even more suspenseful adventure. Although the Asian horror-meister has surprisingly dispensed with the supernatural element of the first film, he isn't about to let up on the chill factor. The psychological crime thriller sequel has caught a group of new suspects for the supporting cast, including Patrick Tam, Eddie Cheung, Izz Xu (Child's Eye), and Mainland actress Gong Beibi.

Bumbling private detective Chan Tam (Aaron Kwok) is enlisted by police pal Fung Chak (Liu Kai Chi) to help in the investigation of a serial murder case. The victims - a middle-aged man killed at home, a dead woman found in the trash dump, and a teenage girl slain in the park - were all killed in grisly manners, but they didn't seem related to each other. Without any clue to follow up on, Tam is decidedly at his wits' end. But when Chak is seriously wounded by a mysterious assailant, Tam deduces that the only way

The SP saga reaches its epic final chapter with SP Kakumei Hen, the second half of the two-part SP film. Writer Kaneshiro Kazuki (who also wrote the series), producer Kameyama Chihiro, director Hatano Takafumi, as well as stars Okada Junichi and Tsutsumi Shinichi all return to give the action-packed series the slam-bang finale the series deserves. In the final installment (dubbed Episode VI), the tension between superhuman SP agent Inoue (Okada Junichi) and his superior Ogata (Tsutsumi Shinichi) finally comes to a head as the conspiracy that was hinted at in the first film is revealed. Secrets from decades past will be exposed as the two SP agents finally reach their inevitable face-off.

Kakumei Hen begins two months after the events of the first film, with Section Four slowly returning to normal. Inoue now harbors a serious distrust of his commander Ogata, who may have ties to chief cabinet secretary Kunio Date (Kagawa Terayuki). On the day the national assembly is due to pass a vote of no confidence for the cabinet, a group of terrorists invades the building and takes the assembly hostage. Assigned to security in the assembly that day, Inoue uses his extraordinary powers to fight the terrorists and discovers a shocking truth about who's behind the conspiracy.

In 2007, Bayside Shakedown director Motohiro Katsuyuki brought Hollywood-style contemporary action to Japanese television screens with the late-night drama SP (Security Police). After the series broke rating records in its time-slot and spawned an even more successful drama special, a film version was underway. Two years later, SP arrives in Japanese cinemas with a spectacular two-part film that reportedly took eight long months to film. Written by novelist Kaneshiro Kazuki (who also wrote the series) and produced by Kameyama Chihiro, SP: The Motion Picture brings back V6's Okada Junichi as the Security Police agent with superhuman senses and Tsutsumi Shinichi as his stern boss. With a bigger budget, SP: The Motion Picture - Yabo Hen immediately ups the ante on the action by opening with an exciting 10-minute chase on the streets of Tokyo, leaving Japanese audiences breathless.

Part one of the film - titled Yabo Hen - opens with Inoue Kaoru (Okada Junichi) using his extraordinary powers to thwart another deadly terrorist attack on a charity event. However, Kaoru's rule-breaking ways also earn him stern warnings from his superiors, including his boss Ogata (Tsutsumi Shunichi). At the same time, an ambitious terrorist plot is being hatched deep within the government by government official Kunio (Kagawa Terayuki), putting Kaoru's team in the line of fire.

Universe Laser See You In You Tube (VCD) (Hong Kong Version)
₱ 348.00
Produced by Oxide Pang, Hong Kong youth film See You in You Tube serves up healthy portions of young energy and hilarious tomfoolery to match its amusing title. The film is billed under Seven's, a moniker for the directing team of film students and rookie filmmakers that pooled their raw talents for this lively, well-meaning production. Handheld-cam, fast-paced storytelling, unexpected turns, and a buzzing anything-goes mood keeps the film rolling on its feet as it whizzes through risky juvenile dares and youthful musings about life. Rising starlet Elanne Kwong (Invisible Target), model Janice Man, and Him Law from Ah Sou lead the fresh, young cast that also includes Gold Label singer Siufay, James Ho of Square, Tommy Yuen of E-kids, singer and TV host Zoie Tam, Maggie Lee (Naraka 19), and Race Wong in a cameo appearance. Given the youth of both the actors and the directors, See You in You Tube effectively tunes into the experiences and mindset of today's younger generation, creating characters that are foolish and stubborn, yet fearless and self-aware.

College students Ling (Elanne Kwong) and Janice (Janice Man) are the best of friends, but also the greatest of rivals. Since they were young, they've competed against each other in just about everything, be it grades or boys. This time they both have their eyes on handsome film student Him (Him Law), who just opened a dubious amateur filmmaking class to earn some extra bucks. Him selects Ling and Janice as the leads for his new film project, having them each lead a team of willing to compete against each other in extreme challenges. With the camera rolling, Ling, Janice, and company face off in crazy dares like kung-fu showdowns and rooftop tug-of-war, but as the game escalates, the team members are forced to make some decisions about friendship and romance.

Universe Laser Happy Funeral (VCD) (Hong Kong Version)
₱ 348.00
Back in 2003, filmmaker Barbara Wong (Wonder Women) directed the sleeper hit Truth or Dare - 6th Floor Rear Flat, about six Hong Kong roommates who begin the painful - and often painfully funny - process of growing up while living in the same small flat. Not one to leave success alone, Wong returns with Happy Funeral, a sequel to her hit film featuring an all-new cast of youngsters occupying the same "6th Floor Rear Flat" as in the original. Instead of Karena Lam, Lawrence Chou, Candy Lo, and Sammy (all of whom appear here in a cameo), the film headlines rising star Elanne Kwong and promising actress Tian Yuan (Best New Artist award-winner for Butterfly). Comedic pop duo I Love U Boyz and rising hip-hop duo Fama play the two girls' roommates. Rounding out the cast is Him Law (See You in You Tube), singer Stephanie Cheng (Trivial Matters), veteran actor Eric Tsang, and hot Taiwan idol group Lollipop in a special cameo.

Young women Ji (Elanne Kwong) and Kay (Tian Yuan) live with four guys (played by Siu Yeah Jim and Donald Tong of I Love U Boyz, and 6 Wing and C Kwan of Fama) in a single flat, where they hold parties and avoid responsibility like youth usually do. The six have a dream to run their own business - and the chance arrives when they concoct the idea to start a "happy funeral" service to celebrate life instead of mourning death. But their plans stall when their investor (Eric Tsang) finds their business proposal immature, and things get worse when the six are threatened with eviction from their flat. Love is in the air too; Ji finds an attraction to a debt-collecting triad (Him Law), and Kay begins to fall for one of her male roommates. When the unexpected occurs yet again, the youth find that a happy funeral may be necessary - if not for their future business, then simply to mark their passage into adulthood.

The only one who could give her comfort is her designer friend Eric (Li Zonghan), to whom she would reveal her weird dreams. She is approached by police sergeant Madam Ou (Huo Siyan) to assist in the investigation of her missing ex-husband. The superstars team-up as love birds in veteran Hollywood artist Danny DeVitto's "Duplex"! Adding top supporting roles to big screen hits like "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" & "Romancing the Stone", DeVito later went on to direct ultra black-comedy hits like "War of the Roses" & "Throw Momma from the Train". Now the short clever all-round talent is back with another intriguing tale that revolves around the initially merry couple of Nancy Kendricks (Drew Barrymore) & Alex Rose (Ben Stiller). They are driven to the point of despair by their old aged tenant Mrs. Connelly (Eileen Essel) whose demand for small favors keep on annoying them until the unnerved couple figures out a seemingly perfect solution that leads to some unforeseen consequences

Directed by the Pang Brothers, Hong Kong's first 3D disaster film Out of Inferno delivers visually striking, meticulously planned fire scenes and unnerving stunts vividly acted out by award-winning actors Lau Ching Wan, Louis Koo and Angelica Lee. Joined by other cast members from Hong Kong, China, Malaysia, Thailand and the US, the team braved real fires at dangerous temperatures on the set as demanded by the directors. Playing brothers for the first time in their 12th collaboration, Lau Ching Wan and Louis Koo star as two estranged firefighters whose paths converge again in a time of disaster.

Catastrophe strikes at Keung's (Louis Koo) company party and sends everyone running for their lives in a frantic panic. Trapped in a flaming office building, former firefighter Keung leads the crowd including his sister-in-law See Lok (Angelica Lee) upstairs to wait for rescue. He reluctantly dials the number of his firefighter brother Dai Kwan (Lau Ching Wan) to call for help. Universe Laser Get Outta Here (2015) (Blu-ray) (Hong Kong Version)
₱ 1,170.00
The Hong Kong vampire genre receives a fun twist in director Nick Leung's action-comedy Get Outta Here, which features Alex Lam (Lan Kwai Fong 3) following in the footsteps of his father, Hong Kong superstar George Lam. The elder Lam played a western vampire in the classic 1990 comedy A Bite of Love, and Alex Lam does the same here as Joe, a dapper western vampire who awakens after a century-long slumber in Kowloon. Joe initially has nowhere to go, but he ends up taking a shine to overly-emotional Hong Kong girl Apple (singer J. Arie), and moves into her flat along with her grandmother (Anna Ng) and their British boarder (Gregory Charles Rivers).

Lucky for everyone involved, Joe doesn't like to drink human blood, and he forms a bond with his new flatmates. However, other vampires do lurk in Hong Kong, and they soon side with the greedy land developers angling for Apple's flat. Can Joe protect his new friends from these threats? Get Outta Here offers plenty of topical Hong Kong commentary to go along with its stylish direction and offbeat sense of humor, which involves gags riffing on Hong Kong-style vampires (the slow, hopping types) and a vampire chicken played by "Puppy the Hen". With style, wit and a dash of smarts, Get Outta Here qualifies as one of 2015's more surprising Hong Kong films.

Director Benny Chan's The White Storm celebrates the brotherhood and camaraderie of three policeman played by three of Hong Kong's most sought-after actors Lau Ching Wan, Louis Koo and Nick Cheung. Deploying ferries and helicopters for its magnificent action scenes, the big-budget crime blockbuster is jam-packed with cinematically appealing and perfectly designed gunfire exchanges, car crashes and explosions. Also strong on its emotional storyline, the movie introduces the beautiful Thai transgender actress Treechada Petcharat and Chinese actress Yuan Quan, making the intricate relationships of the trio even more complicated and boosting the wow factor of the film.

Ma Ngan Tin (Lau Ching Wan), So Kin Chau (Louis Koo) and Cheung Tze Wai (Nick Cheung) met and bonded as kids and their friendship continued in police academy with their shared passion for law and justice. While Ngan Tin and Tze Wai get into the Narcotics Bureau upon graduation, Kin Chau is pre-selected to go undercover in one of Hong Kong's biggest drug trafficking triads. Going deeper into the flourishing drug business, they track down drug lord Eight-Faced Buddha (Lo Hoi Pang) in Thailand and are forced to face a painful confrontation which only allows two of them to walk back out alive.

The Pang brothers return with another horror movie Re-Cycle which closed Cannes Film Festival's "Un Certain Regard" section. This visually impressive piece stars Angelica Lee who first worked with the Pang brothers in The Eye. She plays a popular author who falls into a eerily beautiful world when writing a supernatural thriller. The Pang brothers employ new CG technologies to create abandoned slums which resemble Hong Kong's long-forgotten demolished walled city, imagined color-drained hills and forests, and a suffocating tunnel with embryos hanging from above. The first half of the film delivers plenty of suspense in the same style as other Pang brothers' film. However, the second half of Re-Cycle, mostly an RPG-like adventure, innovatively weaves into the exquisite setting a sense of spookiness.

Angelica Lee is Ting-yin, a popular author who is stuck with her writing and keeps discarding her ideas. She starts to sense her apartment being haunted. When she steps out of her building, she arrives in a mysterious world where she comes across characters she has created and abandoned. An old man (Lau Siu Ming) tells her that she must go to "The Transit" to leave this place, and a little girl (Tsang Nga Kei) accompanies her to go through one desolate world to another in this inexplicable space... The film concludes with a surprising twist which one will appreciate if he or she follows the clever plot closely.

The sophisticated narrative structure, which at times mixes fiction and reality, makes the film more interesting than what is expected from a normal horror film. Thematically speaking, the attraction of Re-Cycle lies in the notion of abandonment. Ideas discarded and memories forgotten, no matter by an individual or a community, will return to haunt you.

Universe Laser On the Edge (Hong Kong Version)
₱ 348.00
Infernal Affairs revived the theme of undercover cops in Hong Kong cinema. Unlike Infernal Affairs, which highlights the battle between an undercover cop and his counterpart mole in the police, On the Edge explores the complex psyche of a former undercover cop returning to normal duty. Nick Cheung (Election) takes up the challenging role of the conflicted police officer, bringing out the confusion and agony of a man On the Edge. Francis Ng and Anthony Wong, who also appears with Nick Cheung in the long-anticipated Johnnie To movie Exiled, offer wonderful supporting performances. Herman Yau's solid direction is, of course, crucial to this tension-filled drama. Herman Yau has made many under-the-radar low-budget movies, but some of his works, such as the graphical The Untold Story (also starring Anthony Wong) and the humanitarian From the Queen to the Chief Executive, have received much critical acclaim. On The Edge is another serious, quality film from Yau.

Undercover police officer Harry (Nick Cheung) resumes duty as an average cop after turning in triad leader Dark (Francis Ng). He then gets partnered with Lung (Anthony Wong), a tough veteran cop who often harasses gangsters, that is, Harry's former friends. Harry's triad buddies, like Mini B (Derek Tsang), want nothing to do with a traitor, and his girlfriend Cat (Rain Li) end their relationship because he is a cop. Meanwhile his police colleagues equally distrust him, suspecting that he is still working for the wrong side. Facing hostility from all sides, Harry is on the verge of falling over the edge.

From first time director Inoue Yasuo comes the brutal revenge thriller, The Neighbor No.13! This uncompromising new film centers on the trials and tribulations of one Murusaki Juzo (Oguri Shun), a mild-mannered youth who finds himself constantly harassed at school. It seems that a relentless gang of thugs led by Akai Toru (Hirofume Arai) take great pleasure in abusing poor Juzo on a daily basis, eventually leaving the young boy with permanent psychological scars. Ten years later, Juzo discovers that his former tormentor Akai now lives in the apartment directly above him, along with his faithful wife Nozomi (Yoshimura Yumi, from the pop duo Puffy AmiYumi) and his little child. Things get even worse when Juzo makes another shocking discovery: not only do both he and Akai work at the same construction company, but Akai is his boss! Now, even as adults, the bullying resumes once more, this time in the workplace.

However, Juzo isn't going take things lying down. It seems years of pent-up aggression have caused him to split off into another personality, a deadly psychopath known only as Neighbor No.13 (played by actor Nakamura Shido). This ultra-violent doppelganger is cold, vicious, and unafraid to eliminate anyone who stands in his way, even innocent people! As Neighbor No.13's violent assaults become more and more arbitrary, Juzo realizes he must somehow suppress his killer alter ego, but can he actually succeed? Based on the popular manga by Inoue Santa and featuring a cameo from cult director Miike Takashi, The Neighbor No.13 is a brutal film about one man's curious brand of vengeance that proves director Inoue Yasuo is definitely a filmmaker to watch!

In 2010, producer Checkley Sin and director Herman Yau explored Ip Man the righteous, patriotic Wing Chun grandmaster in The Legend is Born Ip Man. Three years later, the team shows us a more human side of Master Ip with Ip Man: The Final Fight. People know Ip Man as the Wing Chun grandmaster that defeated Japanese soldiers, racist boxers and Zhang Ziyi on the big screen. However, The Final Fight depicts a later stage of Master Ip's life as a humble Wing Chun teacher in 1950s and 1960s Hong Kong. Based on anecdotes about Master Ip's life directly from his son Ip Chun, the action drama shows the master as a normal man who simply wanted to pass on the art of Wing Chun to his students, even as labor unrest, corruption and crime swept the rapidly developing city. At the same time, he is also a respected figure who would not hesitate to go into action to protect his students.

In this latest take on the martial arts legend, award-winning actor Anthony Wong takes up the role of Master Ip in a dignified and commanding performance. One of the best actors in Hong Kong, Wong not only learned Wing Chun especially for the role, he also became the only actor to adapt Ip's real-life Foshan accent. Joining Wong is a strong supporting cast that includes Jordan Chan (Young and Dangerous), Anita Yuen (Prot g ), Zhou Chu Chu (Dream Home), Gillian Chung (Twins Effect), Timmy Hung, Jiang Luxia, Xiong Xin Xin (Once Upon a Time in China) and Eric Tsang.

In 1949, 56-year-old Ip Man (Anthony Wong) leaves Foshan in search of a new life in Hong Kong. After an impromptu sparring match, Ip takes up his first disciple, Leung Seung (Timmy Hung). With Seung's help, Ip establishes a makeshift Wing Chun school on an apartment building's rooftop. Eventually, Ip attracts a group of loyal students from all walks of life, including a policeman, a factory laborer, a tram driver and others. As his students face troubles inside and outside of the school over the years, Master Ip remains a strong, unwavering moral figure in their lives.

Takashi Miike, director of Ichi the Killer and One Missed Call, tries his hand at family friendly entertainment with Yokai Daisenso, a contemporary remake of the 1968 classic. Full of wild energy and a delightful sense of humor, this live action supernatural fantasy movie stars child actor Kamiki Ryunosuke as Takashi, a timid city kid from Tokyo who leaves his father (Tsuda Kanji) and his older sister Tataru (Narumi Akiko) behind to live in the country with his mother (Minami Kaho) and his crusty old grandpa (Sugawara Bunta).

Teased by his classmates, Takashi feels miserable and alone, that is, until one fateful evening when his life is changed forever. While attending a local festival, he is chosen to be a Kirin Rider, a champion of justice and peace. But little does Takashi know that this isn't all just make believe; it's actually real! Before he knows it, Takashi has embarked on a mission to scale a mountain in the hopes of reclaiming a magical sword from a creature known only as the Great Goblin! And if that epic quest weren't enough, the wizard Kato (Toyokawa Etsushi) is transforming nice little yokai (goblin-type creatures) into unrelenting killing machines, looking to take over the world! Even scarier, the insidious Kato is joined in his nefarious plan by the golden-haired, whip-wielding villainess Aki (Chiaki Kuriyama, from Kill Bill and Last Quarter)!

But Takashi won't have to face these monsters alone; he gets some help from a plethora of yokai pals, including the cunning Shojo (Kondo Masaomi), a kappa named Kawataro (Abe Sadao) and the water princess, Kawahime (Takahashi Mai) just to name a few. Will the evil Kato be successful in his villainous plan or will Takashi and his goblin friends win the day? Valuable lessons about bravery and friendship await in Yokai Daishensho, a winning fantasy spectacle that fans of The Lord of the Rings and the Harry Potter series won't want to miss!

One cup of Cocktail may be enough for one to tell the whole of his story!

New movie Cocktail stars rising Hong Kong singers Candy Lo, Endy Chow, Race Wong (of 2R), Bobo Chan, etc. Lawrence Cheng, an all-rounder in the entertainment industry, and Eric Kot of former Soft Hard Kids, each take up a role. Cocktail, as the movie title suggests, evolves around a pub where people fall in love and break up with one another. It interweaves six love stories to explore the mixed tastes of people's bittersweet lives, just like cocktail mixing different liquors. Director Herman Yau has made over 70 movies in Hong Kong (such as Master Q 2001, The Untold Story), and in this refreshing title he offers a collage of episodes from urban youngsters' experiences.

Paul (Endy Chow) wants to know more about his alcoholic father (Lawrence Cheng) only after he has passed away. Having hated alcohol for almost twenty years, he surprisingly applies for a bartender job at Candy's pub, for drinking now seems the only way for Paul to connect with his late dad. Pub owner Candy (Candy Lo) is born to a rich family. She resorts to drinking when her father forbids her romance with her cousin (Eric Kot), and decides to run a pub so that she can turn her habit to a business. Paul soon has a crush on a customer, without knowing that his colleague Stella (Race Wong@2R) is deeply in love with him...
