Universe Laser See You In You Tube (VCD) (Hong Kong Version) at 349.00 PHP from YesAsia
Universe Laser See You In You Tube (VCD) (Hong Kong Version)
₱ 349.00
YesAsia
Produced by Oxide Pang, Hong Kong youth film See You in You Tube serves up healthy portions of young energy and hilarious tomfoolery to match its amusing title. The film is billed under Seven's, a moniker for the directing team of film students and rookie filmmakers that pooled their raw talents for this lively, well-meaning production. Handheld-cam, fast-paced storytelling, unexpected turns, and a buzzing anything-goes mood keeps the film rolling on its feet as it whizzes through risky juvenile dares and youthful musings about life. Rising starlet Elanne Kwong (Invisible Target), model Janice Man, and Him Law from Ah Sou lead the fresh, young cast that also includes Gold Label singer Siufay, James Ho of Square, Tommy Yuen of E-kids, singer and TV host Zoie Tam, Maggie Lee (Naraka 19), and Race Wong in a cameo appearance. Given the youth of both the actors and the directors, See You in You Tube effectively tunes into the experiences and mindset of today's younger generation, creating characters that are foolish and stubborn, yet fearless and self-aware. College students Ling (Elanne Kwong) and Janice (Janice Man) are the best of friends, but also the greatest of rivals. Since they were young, they've competed against each other in just about everything, be it grades or boys. This time they both have their eyes on handsome film student Him (Him Law), who just opened a dubious amateur filmmaking class to earn some extra bucks. Him selects Ling and Janice as the leads for his new film project, having them each lead a team of willing to compete against each other in extreme challenges. With the camera rolling, Ling, Janice, and company face off in crazy dares like kung-fu showdowns and rooftop tug-of-war, but as the game escalates, the team members are forced to make some decisions about friendship and romance.

Aaron Kwok continues his streak of winning performances with Oxide Pang's The Detective. Set in Thailand, Kwok's latest outing is an immensely entertaining suspense thriller bearing the unmistakable Pang Bros. signature. Bolstered by atmospheric set design and commanding music, the film spins plentiful jumps and scares from an unsettling narrative that keeps the audience at the edge of their seats. Fresh off consecutive Best Actor wins at the Golden Horse Awards for Divergence and After This Our Exile, Kwok is perfectly charismatic and at ease as a laid-back Thai-Chinese detective pulled into a mysterious murder case. Kwok is supported by talented character actors Liu Kai Chi (Infernal Affairs 2), Kenny Wong (Gong Tau), Wayne Lai, Kiki Sheung, and Jo Koo, as well as long-time-no-see faces like Shing Fui On and former pop starlet Elle Choi. Holding shop from a small dinky office, near-sighted, debt-ridden private detective Tam (Aaron Kwok) talks big, but does small business. He gets an interesting new job when hard-drinking friend Lung (Shing Fui Oi) shows up one day with the picture of a woman whom he claims is trying to kill him. Unable to locate the woman, Tam starts looking up her acquaintances, but he seems to always be in the wrong place at the right time. At his first stop, he walks into a man hanging from the ceiling, the first of many dead bodies he stumbles upon. Tam becomes increasingly obsessed with finding the truth behind the mysterious deaths, but digging too deep could have dangerous consequences.

Universe Laser Happy Funeral (VCD) (Hong Kong Version)
₱ 349.00

Back in 2003, filmmaker Barbara Wong (Wonder Women) directed the sleeper hit Truth or Dare - 6th Floor Rear Flat, about six Hong Kong roommates who begin the painful - and often painfully funny - process of growing up while living in the same small flat. Not one to leave success alone, Wong returns with Happy Funeral, a sequel to her hit film featuring an all-new cast of youngsters occupying the same "6th Floor Rear Flat" as in the original. Instead of Karena Lam, Lawrence Chou, Candy Lo, and Sammy (all of whom appear here in a cameo), the film headlines rising star Elanne Kwong and promising actress Tian Yuan (Best New Artist award-winner for Butterfly). Comedic pop duo I Love U Boyz and rising hip-hop duo Fama play the two girls' roommates. Rounding out the cast is Him Law (See You in You Tube), singer Stephanie Cheng (Trivial Matters), veteran actor Eric Tsang, and hot Taiwan idol group Lollipop in a special cameo. Young women Ji (Elanne Kwong) and Kay (Tian Yuan) live with four guys (played by Siu Yeah Jim and Donald Tong of I Love U Boyz, and 6 Wing and C Kwan of Fama) in a single flat, where they hold parties and avoid responsibility like youth usually do. The six have a dream to run their own business - and the chance arrives when they concoct the idea to start a "happy funeral" service to celebrate life instead of mourning death. But their plans stall when their investor (Eric Tsang) finds their business proposal immature, and things get worse when the six are threatened with eviction from their flat. Love is in the air too; Ji finds an attraction to a debt-collecting triad (Him Law), and Kay begins to fall for one of her male roommates. When the unexpected occurs yet again, the youth find that a happy funeral may be necessary - if not for their future business, then simply to mark their passage into adulthood.

The only one who could give her comfort is her designer friend Eric (Li Zonghan), to whom she would reveal her weird dreams. She is approached by police sergeant Madam Ou (Huo Siyan) to assist in the investigation of her missing ex-husband. In 2007, Bayside Shakedown director Motohiro Katsuyuki brought Hollywood-style contemporary action to Japanese television screens with the late-night drama SP (Security Police). After the series broke rating records in its time-slot and spawned an even more successful drama special, a film version was underway. Two years later, SP arrives in Japanese cinemas with a spectacular two-part film that reportedly took eight long months to film. Written by novelist Kaneshiro Kazuki (who also wrote the series) and produced by Kameyama Chihiro, SP: The Motion Picture brings back V6's Okada Junichi as the Security Police agent with superhuman senses and Tsutsumi Shinichi as his stern boss. With a bigger budget, SP: The Motion Picture - Yabo Hen immediately ups the ante on the action by opening with an exciting 10-minute chase on the streets of Tokyo, leaving Japanese audiences breathless. Part one of the film - titled Yabo Hen - opens with Inoue Kaoru (Okada Junichi) using his extraordinary powers to thwart another deadly terrorist attack on a charity event. However, Kaoru's rule-breaking ways also earn him stern warnings from his superiors, including his boss Ogata (Tsutsumi Shunichi). At the same time, an ambitious terrorist plot is being hatched deep within the government by government official Kunio (Kagawa Terayuki), putting Kaoru's team in the line of fire.

Based on Ma Wing Shing's best-selling comic, blockbuster action fantasy The Storm Riders opened a new page in Hong Kong Cinema when it was released in 1998. Boasting the best special effects ever seen in a Hong Kong film at the time, the big-budget all-star production broke box office records with its fusion of comic book adventure, wuxia mythology, wirework action, and pure cinematic spectacle. A decade later, The Storm Riders returns with the highly anticipated sequel, The Storm Warriors, directed by the Pang Brothers! Ekin Cheng and Aaron Kwok reprise their iconic roles as eponymous heroes Wind and Cloud, this time taking on Simon Yam and Nicholas Tse as the villains. Kenny Ho makes a rare movie appearance as Nameless, the top swordsman of the land, while Charlene Choi and Mainland Chinese actress Tang Yan (Chinese Paladin III) play the romantic interests. Other supporting cast members include Lam Suet, Patrick Tam, and Wong Tak Bun. Just as the first film did ten years ago, Storm Warriors sets the new bar in Hong Kong Cinema with incredible special effects that bring the fantastical action, adventure, and comic book aesthetic to the silver screen like never before. Lord Godless (Simon Yam) and his son Heart (Nicholas Tse) are out to take over the martial arts world and the Middle Kingdom. Even Nameless (Kenny Ho), Wind (Ekin Cheng), and Cloud (Aaron Kwok) combined cannot defeat Godless and his impenetrable body armor. Injured from battle, they seek the help of reclusive master Lord Wicked (Wong Tak Bun), who guides Wind into harnessing the powers of the dark side. Godless, meanwhile, is forcing the Emperor (Patrick Tam) to reveal the location of the powerful "Dragon Bone" relic. Unable to control his newfound powers, Wind loses himself to the dark side, and sets out to destroy Godless... and Cloud.

Children's stories and horrifying murders go hand in hand in Danny Pang's Fairy Tale Killer. The latest solo project from one of the creators behind Hong Kong horror hit The Eye ditches the supernatural angle but retains the scares and suspense in a gruesome crime thriller about a serial killer that finds inspiration in classic fables. Two acclaimed actors join the filmmaker's cause: Lau Ching Wan (Life Without Principle) stars as the troubled cop on the case, while the usually meek Wang Baoqiang (Mr. Tree) becomes the deranged killer responsible for the bizarre and bloody deaths. The supporting cast includes singer/actress Elanne Kwong (Love Lifting), who flexes her acting muscles again playing an autistic artist, as well as Lam Suet, Elena Kong, and Joey Meng. At the precinct where Inspector Wong (Lau Ching Wan) is stationed, a man with a serious stutter named Ng (Wang Baoqiang) turns himself in, claiming he has committed murder. The "victim", however, turns out very much alive, so the cops have to let this apparently mentally disturbed man go. But after a couple of days that victim really ends up dead, and soon other bodies begin to turn up one by one, all killed in different but equally grisly manners. Without any clue, Wong struggles to lead the investigation into these strange murders. What they manage to find in the apartment of Ng, the prime suspect, is nothing but a pile of books of fairy tales...

The first Ip Man film follows the life of the titular character (played by Donnie Yen) in his hometown of Foshan, where he's challenged for martial arts supremacy by Jin (Fan Siu Wong), a martial arts master from out of town, and a Japanese general (Ikeuchi Hiroyuki) during wartime. Featuring action choreography by Sammo Hung, the first Ip Man took the Chinese film industry by storm, becoming a surprise box office hit and creating a new Chinese action hero. Ip Man 2 arrived in Chinese cinemas 17 months after the success of the first film. Featuring the same creative team, Ip Man 2 transports the franchise from Foshan to colonial era Hong Kong, as the grandmaster attempts for a new start there with his family. The Hong Kong vampire genre receives a fun twist in director Nick Leung's action-comedy Get Outta Here, which features Alex Lam (Lan Kwai Fong 3) following in the footsteps of his father, Hong Kong superstar George Lam. The elder Lam played a western vampire in the classic 1990 comedy A Bite of Love, and Alex Lam does the same here as Joe, a dapper western vampire who awakens after a century-long slumber in Kowloon. Joe initially has nowhere to go, but he ends up taking a shine to overly-emotional Hong Kong girl Apple (singer J. Arie), and moves into her flat along with her grandmother (Anna Ng) and their British boarder (Gregory Charles Rivers). Lucky for everyone involved, Joe doesn't like to drink human blood, and he forms a bond with his new flatmates. However, other vampires do lurk in Hong Kong, and they soon side with the greedy land developers angling for Apple's flat. Can Joe protect his new friends from these threats? Get Outta Here offers plenty of topical Hong Kong commentary to go along with its stylish direction and offbeat sense of humor, which involves gags riffing on Hong Kong-style vampires (the slow, hopping types) and a vampire chicken played by "Puppy the Hen". Director Benny Chan's The White Storm celebrates the brotherhood and camaraderie of three policeman played by three of Hong Kong's most sought-after actors Lau Ching Wan, Louis Koo and Nick Cheung. Deploying ferries and helicopters for its magnificent action scenes, the big-budget crime blockbuster is jam-packed with cinematically appealing and perfectly designed gunfire exchanges, car crashes and explosions. Also strong on its emotional storyline, the movie introduces the beautiful Thai transgender actress Treechada Petcharat and Chinese actress Yuan Quan, making the intricate relationships of the trio even more complicated and boosting the wow factor of the film. Ma Ngan Tin (Lau Ching Wan), So Kin Chau (Louis Koo) and Cheung Tze Wai (Nick Cheung) met and bonded as kids and their friendship continued in police academy with their shared passion for law and justice. While Ngan Tin and Tze Wai get into the Narcotics Bureau upon graduation, Kin Chau is pre-selected to go undercover in one of Hong Kong's biggest drug trafficking triads. Going deeper into the flourishing drug business, they track down drug lord Eight-Faced Buddha (Lo Hoi Pang) in Thailand and are forced to face a painful confrontation which only allows two of them to walk back out alive. This version comes with a random cover and a limited bonus DVD containing making-of, deleted scenes and trailers.

Jackie Chan can never go wrong as a cop in an action blockbuster and he's doing it again with Police Story 2013, the sixth film in his iconic series which arrives a good decade after New Police Story. Moving the story northward, Jackie plays a Beijing cop who goes against a mysterious villain in the action thriller directed by Ding Sheng (The Underdog Knight). Apart from Jackie's world famous stunts, the Hong Kong-China production co-starring Liu Ye (The Last Supper) and Jing Tian (Special ID) also has a strong emotional and suspense storyline that defies viewers' expectation of a Jackie Chan film. Police officer Zhong Wen (Jackie Chan) meets his estranged daughter Miaomiao (Jing Tian) in her boyfriend Wu Jiang's (Liu Ye) bar, but a strange dispute suddenly breaks out. While trying to break up the fray, Zhong Wen gets knocked out. He wakes up to find that all the customers in the bar are being held hostage by Wu, who demands a certain prisoner be brought to him. Zhong gradually realizes that everything is connected to a deadly incident that happened years ago.

One cup of Cocktail may be enough for one to tell the whole of his story! New movie Cocktail stars rising Hong Kong singers Candy Lo, Endy Chow, Race Wong (of 2R), Bobo Chan, etc. Lawrence Cheng, an all-rounder in the entertainment industry, and Eric Kot of former Soft Hard Kids, each take up a role. Cocktail, as the movie title suggests, evolves around a pub where people fall in love and break up with one another. It interweaves six love stories to explore the mixed tastes of people's bittersweet lives, just like cocktail mixing different liquors. Director Herman Yau has made over 70 movies in Hong Kong (such as Master Q 2001, The Untold Story), and in this refreshing title he offers a collage of episodes from urban youngsters' experiences. Paul (Endy Chow) wants to know more about his alcoholic father (Lawrence Cheng) only after he has passed away. Having hated alcohol for almost twenty years, he surprisingly applies for a bartender job at Candy's pub, for drinking now seems the only way for Paul to connect with his late dad. Pub owner Candy (Candy Lo) is born to a rich family. She resorts to drinking when her father forbids her romance with her cousin (Eric Kot), and decides to run a pub so that she can turn her habit to a business. Paul soon has a crush on a customer, without knowing that his colleague Stella (Race Wong@2R) is deeply in love with him...

In the recent years, Yuen Wah pairs up with Yuen Qiu to create a number of successful comedies. Previously their Kung Fu Mahjong series has offered movie fans much fun with Chinese people's favorite pastime - mahjong. In Bet to Basic, another hilarious title on Mahjong, Yuen Wah proves himself to be just as capable in entertaining the audience even without Yuen Qiu. With Jordon Chan and Rain Lee leading the cast, Bet to Basic will offer some amusing scenes in which mahjong masters will show off their stunning skills in shuffling mahjong tiles. Gambling is an established topic in Hong Kong cinema, but the first-time director Paul Chung, also an experienced scriptwriter, has incorporated some innovations into Bet to Basic to make it more enjoyable than the audience would have expected. Good-for-nothing gangster Dragon (Chin Kar Lok) discovers that his newly arrived cousin Roy (Jordon) is a super lucky guy. Roy can win huge money from playing mahjong even if he knows nothing about the game. Mahjong master Wah (Yuen Wah) sees Roy's potential and takes Roy to be his apprentice. Roy has a crush on Wah's another apprentice Pui (Rain Lee), without recognizing Pui as the undercover sent by the wicked and aggressive Mie Luo (Samuel Pang), who wants to make himself "The King of Mahjong" at all cost...

A romance comedy starring Eric Kot from Softhard Kids and singer Candy Lo, Feel It... Say It tells a story in which love is only felt but not said. Eric Kot plays a medical doctor specialized in curing sexually transmitted diseases, and Candy Lo is a nurse in his small clinic in the suburb. As doctor and nurse the two professionals can openly discuss even topics that normal people find embarrassed to talk about, but after work they are just as bad as any others in communicating their true feelings to each other. Feel It... Say It wittily articulates the characters' hesitation in confessing their love, or the loss of it, to each other and explores contemporary romantic relationships in the most humorous way. Dr. Heung (Eric Kot) runs a very successful clinic in Hong Kong's suburb. His girlfriend, a new actress Fifi (Tiffany Lee, from Kungfu Mahjong 2), meets a handsome masseur named Bing (Anson Leung, from One Nite in Mongkok) when having foot massage with her colleagues. Fifi falls in love with Bing at first sight, but Bing's girlfriend is actually Dr. Heung's nurse! While Fifi and Bing find it difficult to tell their respective lovers the truth, Dr. Heung and his nurse are attracted to each other but do not know how to handle this complicated relationship...

In the 1992 feature Nobita and the Kingdom of Clouds, Nobita and Doraemon encounter a group of humans who live in the clouds. Set in the early 20th century when China was rife with turmoil and civil warfare, the action-packed blockbuster follows the deadly events that unfold when a militia captain tries to bring a murderous warlord to justice. Directed by Benny Chan (The White Storm), Call of Heroes builds on the vicious tension with blistering action choreographed by Sammo Hung. Yang captures Shaolun with plans to execute him after trial, but Zhang (Wu Jing), a colonel in Cao's army, soon storms into Pucheng to retrieve the prisoner. Meanwhile, wandering martial artist Ma (Eddie Peng), an old friend of Zhang, also happens to pass by Pucheng and rides right into the volatile conflict. As the situation escalates, Yang is given a deadline to either voluntarily release Shaolun or risk the lives of the entire village.

Wacky comedy lives in U-Man, an undercover buddy cop film with popular Hong Kong actors and more tongue-in-cheek strangeness than anyone could ask for. Anthony Wong stars as Jesus, a lazy policeman who's teamed with "God of Undercover Cops" Ken (Sam Lee). The two are sent undercover at a Catholic Girls School, with Jesus pretending to be a Catholic Priest and Ken dressing in drag as a female student (!). Hijinks abound when they pick Miss Cool (model Rachel Fu) and Candy (Gillian Chung of Twins) as their primary targets, but that's just the beginning of their undercover nightmare. Love triangles, bizarre bad guys, and mistaken sexual identity are just some of the wacky situations the cops find themselves in. Anthony Wong and Sam Lee turn in fun comic performances, and Gillian Chung is adorable in her first screen appearance. Watch for this hilarious sight gag: Sam Lee dressed up as Osama Bin Laden!

A triumvirate of veteran Hong Kong actors star in Partners an international crime thriller spanning Hong Kong, Thailand and Malaysia. Kwan (Simon Yam), Poon (Eric Tsang), and Rick (Michael Wong) are three seasoned criminals who've combined for big scores in the past, but things have changed. While Kwan was recuperating from a gunshot wound, Poon took over the team and led them to new heights. However, Poon may not be telling his partners all his plans. On a routine heist in Thailand, Poon reveals a larger goal of revenge against a rival Thai gangster - plans which he hasn't fully disclosing to his partners. Rick and Kwan don't appreciate the lack of info, and seeds of distrust are sown. Meanwhile, various cop organizations track the trio, and an undercover cop (popular Chapman To) shadows them at every turn.
